Linton is the company that makes a much of the woven tweed that Chanel uses. Lesage is a different process and more labor intensive and expensive. If you are a home sewer or have things custom made, you can purchase Linton tweed.

Btw, a fabric store in nyc sells lesage fabric. Their standard tweed is about 200 per yard.
Wish I could sew ...

Yes---she said that they were overloaded with alterations and had been selling tons of things all summer.
I guess there must be a queue? Then it is what it is? I know...
I heard the Metiers collection was a hit, hence the demand. With the fw collection less appealing for the older clientele, perhaps alterations will return to normal timeline.
But better late than poorly done, right?

Definitely better late than done poorly but I had just never had this experience before, and wondered if this was happening to other people who have been buying RTW lately.

I bought my jackets from Saks. They made a mistake with my denim jacket with the first try, so I guess they must be in a rush also. But mine were done in 2 weeks for each fitting if I wanted (we were out for vacation so there was a delay on our end).

In the spirit of research, I've found these "couture" tweeds:
I'll have to admit, the lesage tweeds in previous years are more sophisticated than these $400/yard tweeds. Say you need 3 yards for a jacket (to match the seams better etc.) the retail price for fabric alone would be >$1k. I guess when they charge $10k for a jacket, considering the design, marketing, etc., I guess it's not too outrageous?

The first jacket, without embelishment, if in black, will be the perfect LBJ.
The second jacket is very nice, though I wish they chose better buttons (do people ever change buttons? I suspect I can buy better buttons and change all).
I like the pants they introduced. They drape well, and the lower legs are fitted. I can already see Ari rocking these pants.
