Chanel Jumbos going out of style?

I don’t think any classic flap bags truly go out of style. I just find that certain sizes are more popular at given times depending on what’s tending. So the mini has been popular recently due to the micro bag trend. I think larger bags will be trending again soon so we will see a lot of jumbo’s or even maxi’s bring popular. But again- I feel any size classic flap can be worn at any time without being seen as “out of style.”

To answer another question someone asked- I’m new to Chanel- started purchasing this year- and I started with a M/L thinking it would be my only one (ha!) then bought mini rectangular and WOC. I love them but want the option to carry more sometimes so I just ordered a Jumbo. I’m so excited, it comes Friday. So yes- new buyers are interested in Jumbo, at least for me!

I agree that the jumbo isn't as sought after now with the mini trend but fashion is cyclical.
I ended up with a jumbo in black lambskin gold hardware simply because it was still 5k and I didnt want to have regrets later. I am so happy I did because it is so beautiful and a practical day bag. I also agree that it can look flashy, but sometimes that can be fun!

Does the lambskin scratch?

For the Chanel classic flap, I don’t think it’ll ever go out of style, regardless of the size. Sure, oversized bags had a moment back in the 2000s just as much as mini bags are super popular these days. But when it comes to iconic designs like the classic flap, I wouldn’t worry about whether the size is « in » or « out ». I’ve never caught myself thinking, when seeing a jumbo, « Oh, that’s really outdated ». I will, however, think this of super trendy designs like Jacquemus’ Chiquito (or even of some of the other Chanel reworkings of the classic flap like the pearl one).

Choose the size that fits what you intend using the bag for. I think the jumbo is great for daily use!

not as easily as I thought. it does have a tiny scuff on one corner from an incident :coolio:, but no scratches. I also don't baby my bags, however, I do rotate them daily.

TBH, medium and small and mini sizes are just aesthetically pleasing and trendy and Instagramable. With the pandemic going on, jumbo is the one to grab as I need to cater for bottle of sanitizer, pack of antiseptic wipes, extra mask, etc. And I still think I look chic in a jumbo lol. So, no, jumbo doesn't look out of style.

As for changing bag daily (or at least once every two days), I attest to it as this is the way to prolong the longevity of leather. It needs to "heal" in between use.

I personally like the jumbo most on myself, particularly over a winter coat. It’s the right size for my tall frame. I do tend to gravitate towards bigger bags so that’s not a surprise to me. The maxi is too big for me but I love seeing it on others!

Just saw someone with jumbo and it looks sooo chic. What am i saying…all chanel classics look super chic and nice. It is Chanel for goodness sake
I absolutely love the jumbo bags and I too think this is very chic. I am the proud owner of the 1955/2005 Anniversary Issue in Black. The jumbo size is so incredibly beautiful and the comments have never stopped. I get so many nice commments when I carry this bag. The Black on gold hardware is amazing. Will be vintage very soon. I don't like these mini and micro bags at all. However, my opinion matters little to these brands. To those you own or love this style. Enjoy, and wear them with good health!
