Chanel Jumbos going out of style?

Please help. I'm debating whether I should buy a Jumbo or not.

I have 2 medium classic flaps (both black ghw, a vintage lamb and a 30-series caviar) already and I'm thinking of either adding a smaller or a larger bag. I've been lucky to be offered to buy a preloved 30-series black shw jumbo caviar in new condition for almost the same price as the mini is new from the store today (approx. 4000 euro).
I don't usually carry a lot of stuff but sometimes I feel like my mediums lack space - could be nice to sometimes carry a water bottle, mini umbrella or extra shopping bags with me. I only have room for the essentials (keys, card case, phone, glasses) in the medium.

What do you guys think? Is it a good buy or should I save the money and purchase a mini or small classic instead? I'm also dreaming about a small flap in beige for special occasions and I'm wondering if I just should save my money for that bag.
I'm scared that I only want to buy the Jumbo because of the good price I've been offered and not because I actually need the bag. Perhaps the jumbo isn't great for my needs? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Between a medium and jumbo, the latter really can offer a lot of space. And from what I read, that's what you need (sometimes).
Even if you now decide to buy a small, you'll still need a bigger bag for occasions you need to take more things out of the house.

But you are aware it can get heavy right? Even if I don't really carry a lot in my DF jumbo, I still feel it's rather heavy.

Alternatively you can consider reissue (less heavy; but provided you fancy one).

Buy not because it's a good price; buy because you are aware of the pros and cons and that the pros outweigh.

I tried it on in store and transferred all my stuff from my medium over to the jumbo. I couldn't feel a noticeable difference in weight when I was in the store.
However I used to own a small Gucci Dionysus which I ended up selling because of the weight so I'm kinda conflicted. Perhaps with the water bottle and everything in it, it will be too heavy for my liking.

I did consider the Reissue but I'm not in love with the style (sorry, unpopular opinion). I also considered finding a preloved single flap jumbo but they are difficult to come by in good condition, most of them are out of shape.

I have sold my jumbo 2 years ago. Not because of trend, but because it’s heavy. I love it. Mine was caviar black with ghw, perfect combo. I do miss my jumbo, but I won’t buy it anymore even the big bag trend is back. For me, I don’t care about trend. Comfort is number one especially because I have 2 young kids. When I need to bring more stuff, I just carry my Lindy 34 or my Goyard Artois. Normal days, I just need small bag. ;)

So I actually like the jumbo because of the casual feel of the bag. The medium or small are too formal for me. Jumbo I get much more use out of as it’s an every day bag. I’ve tried carrying my medium as an everyday and it just doesn’t work for me personally. Too uncomfortable double chained, too formal single chained. Also I can fit my phone in the back pocket of the jumbo for easy access which is turning out to be a nice convenience especially since I use Apple pay most of the time.

Thank you for your replies.
I might bite the bullet and get the jumbo.
My biggest concern was that it wouldn’t get much use in my wardrobe but I’m sure that if I got the small flap it would get even less use. Because I too find the size very formal and not suitable for everyday.
So perhaps starting with the jumbo will be a great addition to my collection. Especially since the price is great too.

That's what I did... got the jumbo black caviar then got the mini rectangular black caviar and then reissue 225 black distressed calf all in varying colours of gold on the hardware.

I was just in Dubai and Europe last month (Paris and London) and I was pleasantly surprised to see the range of bags out on the street and in restaurants. I saw lots of jumbos and lots of minis with people who seemed to be locals. (Not as much Hermes, but what there was was also larger) So buy whatever suits so long as you can carry it. Fashion is cyclical

Really love the Jumbo, it’s my second favorite most used size, right after the Maxi. I’m 5’8 and love the size also. I have all sizes from Chanel and the mini is my least used, I just hold on to it because it’s black caviar and rare these days, almost impossible to repurchased if I regretted selling.
Also, as someone who has been around for a few decades, trends are always coming back. I Regret the pieces I got rid of in the 90, since they are coming back in style now.

Lately I’ve been thinking if I have to get rid of one or 2 Chanel bags that’s going to be the classic flap medium and the coco top handle. I will still hold onto the jumbo single flap and the large reissue cos both are very practical and the most used for daytime. Due to the recent massive increases in prices, I am reluctant taking them out without attracting unwanted attention and nervous being targeted.

Has anyone ever compare the quality of the minis to small/medium/jumbo?
You can probably find this on Youtube. I am sure I have seen it. I don't have a small but i have the other sizes. The rectangular Mini fits surprisingly almost the same amount as a medium, since it doesn't have a double flap. The jumbo gets heavy once you start filling it.

I think hanging on to both of those bags is very very wise. Obviously, since you use them both that makes sense but even beyond that there are reasons… The single flap jumbo because well maintained single flaps are becoming increasingly hard to find (I know as I am forever looking for them!) and the large reissue because they are so undervalued right now on the resale market, often selling at 60 or 70% off retail prices for nearly pristine bags. They’re both two of my favorite and most used bags too!

I suspect the crazy markups we are seeing for the minis will eventually level out and the resale prices for the larger bags will rise to come closer to the retail prices (and i will be kicking myself for not buying up every heavily discounted pristine reissue 227 currently on the resale market!). These bargain basement prices are unreal given the recent retail narkups, and for such a fabulous, easy to carry Chanel classic no less. it‘s such a tremendous buying opportunity.
