Does anyone have the mini in denim OR white? if so can you speak to durability? I like both, but I know white will be difficult to keep clean.
Hi, i have mini 22 in white. Used her often for weekend shopping and travel overseas once. Not much wear and tear, however there is some rubbing on the drawstring leather strap (the long chain leather strap and leather cord still good). I guess due to pulling when adjust the straps length. Not obvious unless look very closely. I only notice it when I wipe it (with Chanel cloth) before store it. Yet to wear it with jeans and no colour transfer so far.

Hi there!

There are 2-3 ladies on here that have the beautiful ecru champagne pearly Chanel 22. I would love to hear your feedback on wear and tear on these bags? I have recently purchased this seasonal colourway in the medium size (photo attached). It’s really very beautiful howver have not used it yet. I noted the leather is different from the standard Chanel 22’s, it feels thicker but much softer?
I have a Chanel 22 in small burgundy calfskin which I love and used about 10 times however have just noticed the rubbing and some peeling where the chains rub on the loop area. This was a summer 2023 calfskin version and now I’m concerned about using the ecru/ off white colour and wonder if I should just sell this on….would love to hear thoughts!

I have this color is mini and didn't have any issues, but also I heard that the peeling in the chain area mainly affects small+ bags. In the mini the crossbody chains are connected inside the bag, so they don't really rub on the leather. There're short chains that go through the leather which can be used to cinch the opening, but I haven't done this much, so I'm not sure how'd it hold up if done regularly.

Ah thanks. What about general wear and tear on other areas of the leather? It’s very soft and lush, is it any more prone to wear and tear than the other leather steps of Chanel 22? And colour transfer? Thanks 🙏🏽

Mini's are different because it is essentially a crossbody bag, so no "chain rubbing leather issue". But on larger sizes where they are meant to be shoulder bags, it is bound to be a problem.

I totally agree. I had the shoulder bag and I sold mine quickly after 4 months of owning it and only wore it 3x ( with just a wallet, phone , key fob and a small make up bag ( 2 lipstick and face powder) I carry on it.). I freaked out after seeing tons of negative reviews in YouTube and to be honest that bag has no issue aside for some wrinkling on where the chain part is (which is normal) and the left bottom corner but the constant checking while wearing it was driving me crazy. For some reason I was anticipating that my bag will be like other 22 bags in YouTube that has issues. So with heavy heart I let it go. Now I am eyeing on that bag to be part of my collection (that's why I am lurking again on this forum) but never really jump to purchase it. I was thinking maybe I'll go with tweed this time or fabric or maybe a mini.

Yeah, totally understand. I recommend a mini because it's just so darn cute. But a fabric will do too if you need capacity. I like the denim versions.

If you’re worried about the leather then tweed is definitely the way to go ..I used my tweed one a bit but I was worried about restaurants smells absorbing into the fabric lol

Tbh I have 3 Chanel 22s, I have the khaki green wth silver hw and a bright green wth gold hw both in medium size..they are my everyday work bags as I carry a lot of stuff and for me the leather has been amazing ..the khaki one is almost 2 yrs old and the leather is amazing not even a scuff . The bright green has a scuff in corner but so far it’s held up great . They are my most used bags and in constant rotation.

My tweed one I got as initially I was worried about YouTubers talking bout faulty leather etc but I’ve never experienced this with my bags . I would say with the tweed I’m careful as it rubs against ur clothes and can get bobbled easily ..after having all 3 , I decided to sell my tweed one as the leather is low maintenance for me . The denim ones look quite hardwearing too :)

This is a lovely bag , but it’s a high maintenance colour ..if u wear dark nail polishes u can easily get polish marks on ur bag …also metallic finish is much more delicate…. The crinkled leather, caviar or calfskin is much more durable …both my leather 22s are in calfskin .

I would take the burgundy 22 into Chanel to see if they can repair it :)
