I don't know. Chanel never admits fault or shows any level of humility/ transparency. I doubt they would ever overtly come out and say, hi, we use leather remnants and put PU on top of that, which should make these bags last until the apocalypse, minus the chafing, peeling, and, under certain circumstances, melting. What I DO know about them, is that if they were using beautiful or high end hides, they'd let us all know. Note: we no longer see "lesage" anywhere do we? Just look at how much they laud their timepieces, after partnering with a centuries old movement company..and they go into great detail about construction etc. So my thought here is that if they did something truly amazing, they'd sure let us know. The 22 ain't it. "A supple yet resistant leather". That tells me, chemicals.Hi
@TraceySH , will you be able to find out if chanel actually did use bonded leather? Something is very off with leather or the material. I wish they disclosed what type of material they used. Anything you hear from chanel please share it with us! Greatly appreciate the input.
And my black one reeks of chemicals.
In most countries, something need only be a tiny fraction of actual leather to be called "leather". Logic also tells me that, for a company to have netted the most profit in its history, $5B last year, during a pandemic, that not only did they raise prices but lowered production/ materials costs.
You know, most of us just keep buying Chanel regardless. The prices are stupid, the quality was never there (except in rare instances perhaps). So clearly we buy more for the brand and the design, and less for the quality ....not sure why Chanel wouldn't just take the opposite route and say, we are using alternative materials or maybe even eco-conscious "leather" (or at least make it that way in production) or heck, even PVC or PU leather, would anyone really stop buying?
