.Hello all. I'm new to this forum, so please excuse me if my question has already been answered on a previous thread... but I'm freaking out. I received the LP Dylan Zip Tote in Leaf (a beautiful green color) for Christmas, and last night someone splattered some sort of alcohol on the front and one of the straps. The marks are dark and I don't know what to do. I did not pre-treat the bag (I know, super dumb move; I have definitely learned my lesson). Can anyone provide any advice on how I can get the stains out? Thank you very much!
Sorry to hear that. Not sure if this will help you but I once spilled coffee all over the back of my dylan large speedy (and mine was not pre-treated as well). This disaster left some pretty large dark stains but I was able to get it all out by blotting the affected areas with lots of water. I took a soft tissue soaked with warm water, squeezed some water on the leather and blotted away. I was worried about possible water stains but figured it was worth a try since it was already stained with coffee; however, my bag is a mahogany color (darker brown) and since the leaf is a brighter color I'm not sure if the water would stain it. Maybe it will be worth it for you to try blotting lightly with water? If all else fails, maybe you can look into a professional leather cleaning service.
Don't worry ! LP are washed (& washable) leather. Alcoholic drinks have sugar so plain water won't clean the leather. Use a soft lint-free cloth with a little diluted soap, followed by clear water dampened cloth 'feathered' over the stain to eliminate water mark edges. Towel blot. Allow the leather to air dry away from heat sources. (then spray with Kiwi protectant or Wilson's TLC if you have it) You came to the right place, and welcome to LPville. The leaf is gorgeous !

That is GREAT NEWS !! Thanks for the follow-up. The same tricks work for all LP, and KIWI brand is fine is you don't want the hassle finding TLC.
I got a black dylan patchwork speedy and from most of my soft leather black bags, no matter what happens, it doesn't leave stains or anything. Does the same go for my dylan bag? Should I treat it anyway? I was curious if anyone who has a black dylan lp had any experience of strains or color fading if that's even possible? My friend has the piper weekender for two years, no stains or color fading and she uses it everywhere and almost everyday, so I felt hesistant to even use anything on my bag.
So I cannot find Wilson's TLC or the Kiwi spray anywhere! I just ran to Aldo and picked up their "Defense Protector" spray that is supposed to "resist rain, snow, slush, salt and stains" on all colors of leather and suede. I'm a little nervous about using it on my green LP, as many of you ladies feel strongly about the 2 aforementioned products. Does anyone know anything about this particular Aldo product and would you recommend it? Thanks again!
Nobody says you have to use anything at all. I don't treat dark leathers, only the light and delicate.(blush, leaf, fuchsia, turquoise) Nothing at all on my black long speedy...someday it may benefit from TLC lotion.
Because of the way LP leathers are dyed, there will probably never be fading unless you leave it exposed to sunlight.
* Piper, Angie and Samantha leathers seem to be the most naturally spot-resistant.
We haven't tested every brand out there. Try your spray on the leather swatch that came with the bag. If it looks even, & doesn't change the color, go ahead and use it. Many of these products are made in one factory, of one formula, and carry private labels. I like the salt and slush protection promise ! Regular rules apply ~ spray lightly and evenly, allow adequate dry time and use it in a well-ventilated area. Maybe we can add another winner to the list, so please let us know how it goes.
