The Wilson's has a nice mild scent, not like some of the leather protectors which can be strong and harsh. I actually really like the smell of it.

Personally, I have never wiped off the hardware of my bags when I spray them. I have never even thought of that (???)! It is a smart thought, although in my many cases, it has not affected the hardware at all.

And, yes, I use my CLEAN DRY hands to wipe the spray around the bag to ensure it is evenly coated. I always do 3 full coats on any new bag, but I do an extra coat on the bottom of the bag and handles/shoulder strap.

Good luck!!!!

I'm TLC'ing my bag right this minute... I'll post "during" and "after" pics tomorrow because if I hadn't been forewarned by you, Cooper, I may have panicked at the initial color change - but so far, so good!

Ok so I'm kind of freaking out here, I was driving with my younger brother and he stuck my marigold mini speedy under the cupholders of my car. At a stoplight i reached down to readjust it (my brother constantly says I'm crazy for babying my bag) and saw that my mug of tea had dripped onto my bag. Naturally I flipped out and pulled into the closest parking lot. I dabbed the excess off and drove home, I didn't want to do anything that would make it worse. Most of the stain is invisible now (I love you LP!!) but some of it is still visible. Anyonw have any tips? TIA!

Did you pre-treat your bag with a leather protector?

Take a damp cloth and gently wipe the spot until it looks pretty wet, wiping a little further out than the stain to try to gently "blend" the area. Let it dry completely and then see how it looks. If it is not completely out, try it again. Do NOT wipe too vigorously, or else you can remove some of the leather pigment and it may leave a lighter spot or a dull spot.
Then when it is completely dry (wait til even the next day) and spray the entire bag with a leather protector, like Wilson's TLC or Apple Guard, and do a full 3 coats, waiting until it is completely dry between coats.

Good luck! Let us know what happens!

no pre-treating, :shame:  I'm new to the whole designer bag scene and hadn't thought to pre-treat.
Thanks so much for the advice cooper, you're a bag-saver! :hugs:

OK, do the bag "cleaning" like I said, no soap or cleansers, they can damage the leather or the color. Just a damp cloth. Set the bag aside when you feel you've done the best that can be done on the stain. DON'T USE IT AGAIN until it is treated!!!
If you have a Wilson's Leather near you, get the Wilson's TLC Leather & Suede Protector Spray. If you have no store near you, go to their online store and buy it. They ship it very quick and you should get it in a few days. It is $8 for one 4 oz bottle, so get a couple of bottles to make the shipping fee worth while. Trust me, you will have no problem using this stuff up!
Follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread for treating your bag with Wilson's.

Good luck, sweetie! I hope it works out; I know how much you love this bag!

Hi there, I own the Dylan Tote in Taupe but I didn't spray the leather protectant on it. I don't have any pen stains but I notice that my handles are getting darker than the rest of the bag. Any suggestions on how I can clean them and clean the whole bag?

Wanna laugh- you all will want to shoot me- my dylan in bone got denim marks on the bag- I could not get it off.... I was dying.
Then bingo- I took out the Magic Eraser and it totally worked for me. No more blue spots!

That's great news! Congrats!! Hmmm... Maybe I shouldn't be so afraid of white bags... I love the way they look when you're wearing all black!

YAY! That's terrific!
:yahoo:

...I know this must sound stupid, but what is the Magic Eraser?

There are two products called Magic Eraser. One is an art eraser called Magic White Eraser, which is what it sounds like, and a purse lover's best friend.
The other is MrClean Magic Eraser, which is an abrasive pad. Sadly, many have mistaken the two, and have taken MrClean to fine leather with scary results.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm a newbie here on tPF after scoring a great deal on a LP Danielle Tote. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this thread because I definitely want to take care of this beauty. I looked on the Wilson website and it looks like the minimum purchase for free shipping is $100. I'm not sure if I need that many bottles so I might have to hit the closest store instead.

Thanks again!
