Just for reference - Here is a picture of my LP Dylan Speedy in Marigold, soaking in Wilson's TLC.

Cooper recommended TLC to me and she did me right! This stuff is practically odorless, sprays on super easy and dries in a heartbeat.

I wanted to post this pic so that those of you who are concerned about the buttery texture of your LP, or the beautiful light colors, won't give pre-treating the leather a second thought. It looks a little frightening in this pic, but it dried perfectly, you can't even tell she got damp, and I have the peace of mind knowing she's protected from spills and stains.

This is the first coat, I gave her three.

(oh, and she's on an orange vinyl womb chair so excuse the bright background pls, lol)

I don't know about you guys, but if I were you, I'd seriously buy as much TLC from Wilson's as possible. They weren't able to get financing to keep up their plans for re-opening under a different name (that's just the simplest way to put it) and they will be closing in the not-too-distant future. It made big news here in MN, 'cause Wilson's is a Minnesota business (and they've been around for so long! I'm sure if you Google it you can read the details). I just did a 3-coat Wilson pre-treating for my LP Danielle Tote as well and my Danielle still looks and feels the same! I'm so glad I read up on the care and treatment on this thread prior to using it. Since I just finished the treatment, I haven't used it yet. Once I try it for a few days, I'll come back for more feedback.

For everyone's reference, there are two types of Wilson leather and suede spray you can get -- pump spray or aerosol. Since pump spray is "greener", I opted for that one for $8/bottle as oppose to the $13 large bottle aerosol.

Oooh! Thanks for the mid-treatment pic! 3 coats should have your baby ready to go!
Remember if you get a spot or any color/denim transfer on her, just take a damp cloth and wipe the spot off gently (never rub hard), then when it completely dry of water, spray that spot again with your Wilson's TLC!

Just wondering if it's ok to treat the croco bags? I just got the shoulder croco bag in Cognac (it's my first LP!!!) and I am wondering if I should treat it? I have Wilsons which I've used on all my other bags with great results but I'm new to LP and just wanted to make sure it's ok for this type of leather? :flowers:

Wilson's Spray is good for everything except metallic, so it's a good choice.
Because your Croc is embossed, be careful to mist VERY lightly and do not saturate the leather . (could alter the pattern)

Definitely Wilson's TLC Leather & Suede Protector Spray (It comes in a little silver pump spray bottle). If you don't have a Wilson's Leather store near you, you can buy it online. It is $8/bottle. Spray the entire bag evenly (you may have to rub it around with your CLEAN & DRY hands to make sure it is evenly coated), holding it about 8 inches away (I think it says this on the bottle), let it thoroughly dry a minimum of a few hours between coats. Do a total of 3 coats on any new bag. Pay very close attention to treating the handles and bottom (esp on a light-colored bag) of your bag.
Then your bag will be ready to go! If it gets a little dirty spot on it here or there, you should be able to wipe it off with a little mild liquid soap and a damp cloth. Then let it completely dry, and give it another spray with the Wilson's as needed. For bags that are already thoroughly treated, I say an annual spray with the protectant is always wise.
Keep in mind, when you treat the leather, your bag will look completely soaking wet smd the leather will look dark. Do NOT panic! It dries completely back to the original shade of the leather. That's one nice thing about the Wilson's: it does not darken or alter the color of the leather at all. It also does not change the surface texture, softness, etc.

Also, I like Coach products for conditioning and cleaning. Ironically enough, I do not own any Coach bags! I learned from a few tips here on tPF that Coach leather products are exceptional, and I do agree (they also work fabulously for leather shoes and sandals!!!). I purchase the cleaner and the moisturizer. I like to moisturize the leather on my LP bags occasionally. Again, this does NOT change the color of the bag's leather, it just makes it so soft and squishy. It also helps repel any dirt and debris; it easily wipes away.

It just arrived, thank you USPS guy! (it was off ebay btw, somebody else must have gotten that one on the LP site) And I'm not sure what to do...there are more flaws than I'd been told about, at least two on the front are pretty noticable (to me, at least). There are a couple that look like water marks, a few color transfer spots, and some streaks on the front, maybe dirt? I'm not sure. I need some serious cleaning help! I'll post some pics here, hopefully they'll turn out alright...it's hard to see the dirt in some of the pics, but there are flaws in each of these pics. It's a lovely bag, oh so soft and pretty...I'm really afraid to just try on my own without getting your help! Thanks in advance. :smile1:

Carol, that's a great bag but you knew it had issues before you bought it ~ it's better to have a plan before a risky purchase.(If it's unacceptably worse, return the thing!)
You have something in your favor; that is the Washed Leather. She was born in water. Get some Lexol Cleanser and follow the directions. Go over the worst dirty areas first (it' OK to use a rough cloth or soft brush), then do the entire bag while those areas are still damp, to keep it even.
Rinse with damp cloths thoroughly, blot with towels, then allow to air dry naturally. The natural variations of the leather are a huge bonus. Finish up with a stain protector & Your rescue is complete !

Thanks Stormy Heart. :smile1: It was a complete impulse buy on ebay (really, I was supposed to be on a ban lol...oops), and I did realize that it had flaws that I was ok with and ready to try and clean, just not those water (?) spots on the front (or as much in other areas) so that did surprise me. But I'm not complaining about my bag or the care it'll need, sorry if it seemed that way...I was just a bit disappointed. It's fine though. Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it...I'll try doing what you suggested! I have Wilson's spray ready to go once it's all done. :tup: Have a good one!

Carlie, Your bag will be like new after her spongebath. :sunshine: Washed leather is very easy to take care of but now we know the vunerability of light patchworks. You can use a white eraser before the lexol, btw, to loosen marks.
I feel a little sad (sometimes even horrified) when a bag is not quite as described. With a little love and care, I hope your happiness returns. :peace:
