It's not normal to lose stitches on a brand new bag. See if you can swap it for another a bag. If they are out of stock, they'll fix yours.

Mari, they are in the process of rewriting the care cards. The lamb and washed cowhide have slightly different requirements, which may be noted. At some point, the new Care instructions should be posted on the LP site. You can email or call CS for a replacement card.

Hi, does anyone have any experience dying LP leather? I have a Pumpkin double-pocket messenger (Dylan line) that has been SO well-used that it's actually fading around the corners, where the leather is bent and stressed... I know some people have had luck dying other leathers, but I was wondering if the washed leathers could even BE dyed? (I don't really want to change the color, just brighten it up and cover the places where it's faded.) Thanks!

I use my viola dylan croco double zippy everyday everywhere and pretty early on, I noticed fading and wear on the back side -- the side that typically rubs on my hip as i walk (i carry it on my arm about hip level). it has gotten worse over time but overall the bag still looks pretty good. It doesnt bother me too much but i am wondering if anyone else has experienced similar wear (fading and thinning of the leather in certain spots) or has found a way to repair it? it is almost as if the waxy-ness of the leather and some of the deep color has been rubbed off...

I've got a small dylan speedy satchel in smoke a few months ago, and it looks like the handles are starting to get slightly darker. Is there anything I could do to prevent that from happening?

Try rubbing the darkened areas with cornstarch and use several coats of Rain/ Stain protector on the handles, near zippers, and along the bottom.
DO NOT handle your LP after applying hand lotion, ever !

Regular conditioning, and UV protectors may have saved your bag, but the physical abrasion of the hip rub did her in. Now that it has been damaged, you may be able to stain the faded areas with unsweetened grape kool aid ( no sugar), and use a heavy clear waxy conditioner, (several coats with massive buffing between). You cannot restore her to her original glory, because the hand-embossing has been worn, but you can bring her back to pretty.

There are two products called Magic Eraser. One is an art eraser called Magic White Eraser, which is what it sounds like, and a purse lover's best friend.
The other is MrClean Magic Eraser, which is an abrasive pad. Sadly, many have mistaken the two, and have taken MrClean to fine leather with scary results.
Hi there, do you know where they sell this MagicWhite Eraser? Target maybe? Thanks for your help!:D

Maybe Target, but I would try an art store like Michaels, Hobby Lobby or something along those lines just to make sure. I know if you sign-up for Michael's email you'll get a 40% off coupon so that would make it even cheaper:smile1:

Hey Ladies, I bought an LP pre-loved and before I use it, I want to clean the lining. Do you suggest using a hand held vacuum or any other method? TIA!

If it's clean, just shake it out and brush it off. Vacuum is OK, too. Pull the lining out and spritz with alcohol ( fine mist ) to disinfect.

If the lining is dirty-to-nasty (as many pre-owned bags with fine exteriors can be ), you have more of a project. Turn out the lining and hand wash.

If it's just a little dirty, sponge it with damp soapy cloth and rinse with clean water dampened cloths. Woolite foam is an option. Air dry. Alcohol spritz.

If a lining is really bad, set aside an hour

1 turn lining out.

2 work at a sink,
3 wrap the bag in a towel on the counter so that only the lining is exposed lower than the counter level.
4
Remove any stains first.
5
Dip the bottom seam of the lining in a bowl of soapy water.
6 Swish a little, work the suds through the lining
(*don't worry about the leather trim pockets, but open the zipper and flip the pocket inside out),
7 Scrub lightly with a terrycloth rag.
Be careful to
8 work upside down to keep the leather dry !.
Water will mark the outside of the purse so be aware water wicks toward the top seam and
9 stay at least 1" away from leather
. A soft toothbrush can
10 gently scrub bad spots and around seams where dust gathers
11 Lift it out and gently squeeze. You will need
12 two clean water rinses, then
13 blot dry with clean towels.
Hang the bag upside down by the bottom of the purse so that the lining hangs free to
14 air dry.
15 Spritz with alcohol or you can
16 carefully iron the lining, if you like it crisp as new.

* these instructions are good for any type leather bag with cotton lining.
