Thanks for the reply! Yes, am concerned about the buckle straps as my cell phone is usually deposited in the bag. hmmm~

Would a 13 inch fit a small umbrella, tissues, phone, a novel and 2 wallets? Thanks!

I highly doubt it will fit all of that. The leather is super stiff...
I usually just carry my LV zippy wallet, my iPhone 5 in a silicon case, and perhaps one or two more things and the bag looks stuffed

you would probably have to play tetris to get it all in lol

I'm wondering about the leather... do you think it stains easily with rain? I live in Canada and I tend to take my leather purses out in the rain (they get splashed even with an open umbrella) and snow...

It's ok in rainy weather

However I have used the bag three times and I can see the neon color changing on the edges a bit

Hey guys, I would like to get the chelsea one in 11" but I am not sure if everything I usually carry will fit in - some advice please? I always carry a large zip around mk wallet, iphone, keys, sometimes my ipad mini and usually also my kindle and my ipod classic. Any of you owners of the 11" think that i could fit all that in? Thanks a lot!

Definitely not all that.
I had an 11" and I could fit a small wallet, keys and phone. Sunglasses case couldn't even fit in with all those
Ended up selling mine before I even used it. The size was useless for my needs.

Just got my satchel today. It took about a week. I am absolutely loving it. I chose the classic yellow satchel 13" and it fits my 11" macbook air snugly. But it is currently snowing and I can't take it out. What can people recommend for a rain repellent?

No it won't. The bag doesn't have much depth and is stiff. I hear the leather satchel company can costumize the size of their satchels to fit your needs. Cambridge doesn't but I got mine from Cambridge for free shipping and free embossing

Here's the info on the CSC website: ;)

Your Cambridge Satchel is made from 100% natural cow leather and is a hard wearing product that will last for many years if cared for in the correct way. We recommend that you take the following measures to get the most out of your satchel:

Please avoid using your satchel in heavy downpours. If the leather does get wet, please wipe off any water and allow it to dry naturally. Following this we would recommend that you apply a leather protection cream to help repel water and nourish the leather, however please remember to test any product on an unobtrusive section of your bag beforehand.
If left in direct sunlight there is a chance the colour of your satchel may fade.
You may choose to care for your leather satchel as with other leather products using an appropriate protector. Please remember to test any product on an unobtrusive section of your bag beforehand.
Your bag will age over time, please don’t panic as this is normal as it is a natural product. Ordinary Vaseline works well on minor scuffs and abrasions to buff your satchel.
Please be aware that highly coloured dyes in the leather may transfer across to lighter clothing and vice-versa.

Hi everyone!

I just purchased my first Cambridge Satchel, a 13" from Bloomingdale's, and received it today. I checked over the bag for any flaws and the outside and hardware seem perfectly normal... but I saw that the leather on the inside of the front pocket is noticeably cracked (please see attached picture).

I'm wondering if this is common on new satchels. Since the outside of the satchel is perfect, I'm not sure if I'd want to go through the trouble of returning it when I really like the bag. And if something like this (leather cracking on the inside) is bound to happen anyway with regular use, I'd be okay with keeping it. Just wanted to know how your bags are looking after some wear, and if any of you would be bothered by this at all? Perhaps I wanted my first Cambridge Satchel to be too perfect... :sweatdrop:

Thanks so much in advance!

Completely out of order and you should send it back! This leather looks terrible!

I've read this thread with interest as I live in London and there are many companies selling leather satchels of varying quality. There seems to be a misconception amongst TPF-ers that the Cambridge Satchel Co was the original designer and manufacturer of such bags and has been going for years....wrong! It's a fairly new company and one of many producing identical satchels in different hues. It's the most expensive as well. Shop around - there are Zatchels that offer more designs, Original Satchel Store that offer a soft leather version, and Leather Satchel Co that allow you to customise fully, eg get a wider gusset bag to carry more stuff, a broad strap support, top handle etc etc.....they all offer international shipping as well.
