I just purchased a 13" satchel in the pastel lavender color.

The bag actually caught my eye as I was walking through The Bay (a Canadian department store) a couple of weeks ago. At that time I didn't even know what brand it was and that it was so popular.

Well, after doing my fair share of research online and contemplating the 11" (it was TINY...IMO it may fit about just as much as a Louis Vuitton pochette...maybe a tad more but not by much) I finally walked out of the store with this one. Yes it's a light color and I'm slightly worried about scratching/dirt, but the lines of the bag are so simple and clean, and I love the way it looks with a black trench coat!

This size is just the right size for me without looking too much like a school bag (I'm 5'7"). I don't typically carry a whole lot with me so the bag capacity is fine. I couldn't imagine anyone using any of these satchels for school since I typically hauled around a backpack that was probably 10-15lbs on any given day in University!

I tried on the black batchel and it was one classy looking bag! I may buy it too...it would be a perfect daily work bag.

Your satchel is a lovely colour, karman :smile1: I too have a 13inch satchel but mine is by Scaramanga, a British/Scottish company. Although the leather is beautifully soft and the perfect shade of tan, the shoulder strap is still pretty stiff. I expect it to soften in time though. I agree that 13inches is a great size for carrying most ordinary things. Satchels like these are the wrong sorts of things for lugging around loads of stuff. I think they work best as stylish accessories/handbags. Strangely enough, I never owned a traditional satchel when I was at school or university. But I developed a satchel obsession a few years ago. Must be something Freudian there!

I wonder if the lavender I ordered is this light. The photo on Gilt was much darker.

Their size is very deceptive, they look like they could hold a ton but I'd say I have bags with smaller dimensions that could hold a lot more! I agree that these Cambridge satchels work best as a handbag though. Except the batchel that I'm now dreaming about...I really think it would be great as a daily work bag!

Maybe yours is from the Chelsea collection? I thought mine was too until I saw that there's a lavender one from an older pastel collection.

I think you're right. That lavender looks closer to the Gilt photo vs the pastel lavender. Thanks!
