I purchased two ostrich calvis in Paris. Both are in bright colors and I love them.

The bright colors have an advantage of standing out more in dark purse interiors. They seem less delicate than other leathers and have are slightly thicker due to the nature of the material.

I couldn't find them in my local store and had to have both when the SA presented them to me in Sevres.
Ooh would you share photos?

The pink is rose tyrien and the other is jaune citreon.View attachment 5272270

I am in love! These are so gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I think I might give a Calvi a try, they are just too beautiful to pass up. I have seen Ostrich both online and in store recently - maybe I've just been lucky with timings. As you said, I think Ostrich might be durable, more so than Alligator (and less hurtful to the bank balance too, ha).

How does the Calvi wear in myosore chèvre? I have an evercolour one that has worn very well and maintained it shape. I have found a color I love in chèvre but am concerned it won't maintain its shape.

I have 3: evercolor, mysore and smooth barenia. Evercolor obviously is hearty but I really wish I hadn’t bought it since I don’t prefer the thickness. The two others are total champs: they are durable and in amazing condition. I cycle between the three so only use one at a time but I use one of them daily. When I swap into the mysore or barenia I always love them so much I keep it in rotation for months. I find both to be very durable and beautiful.

Hello everyone

I am going to purchase my First Calvi

do you prefer mysore or chamkila?
I know that I want to go for chevre so far (I do not like the look/feel of epsom & I find evercolor too soft)

Hi Chaliya!

Having used both Mysore and Chamkila, I must say that it is all down to how you would like to use your Calvi.
Chamkila is crisp, shiny, beautiful to look at and a lot stiffer than Mysore thus if you’d like to carry name cards in it Chamkila should be the one ( only if you don’t mind a very noticeable crease in the middle inside where it folds ).
Personally I prefer Mysore’s softness and toughness but I only keep driving licence, credit cards, banknotes and a tiny piece of jewellery in it.
Have you also considered a special order Calvi card holder in Swift calfskin ( Chagrin goatskin lining )?
It is the softest and smoothest of all and although probably does not wear as well as Mysore I just love holding it!
Good luck with your purchase!

The photo shows Chamkila ( anémone ), Swift ( rose azalée / rose pourpre ), Mysore Calvi Duo verso ( caramel / rose sakura ) and my tuxedo cat :P
