you need to confirm the colour with your local Hermes but colour rendition will have so many variables: the light; the camera device; the monitor
I just got the order confirmation and it indeed says "Verso Rouge Sellier/Bleu". Excited to see it IRL!
I’ve seen the exact colours of this Calvi online, I was not just guessing here from looking at a picture, or I would have said so in my post. ;)
@Sufjansaves the full name of this Bleu has been cut off like often happens, it’s Bleu Électrique. Please share a pic once you’ve received it! :flowers:

It's here! It's beautiful and way more spacious than I expected. The last two photos is with five thick metal cards on one side, and about 7 other cards on the other (ID, insurance cards, global entry, etc). I have to be careful with how I open it because the cards slide off.

Congrats, great choice! Just curious about the closed pouch area, can you fit coins in there? It looks like a really compact & easy to use wallet, especially if it can also fit a few coins.

Btw, love the way you do your nails!

Hello everyone :-)

I currently have one piece from H and that’s my Bastia in epsom.
I would love to add a calvi but other type of leather. No swift, something thick & sturdy, but not epsom.

any recommandations? I don’t have a boutique nearby to try the leathers.

and then: is the calvi functional? My husband thinks it will be very annoying having the cards falling around without slots

I think evercolor is a great option for a calvi. I only use one side so they don’t flop everywhere when I open it and it can comfortably fit 8.

Go through this thread at your leisure and I'm sure you will have your questions answered and then you'll have new ones!
From my POV, I love the calvi- hugely functional, takes up minimal room, no issue with cards "falling around". I have 2 in my bag all the time (with 2 bastias).
Leather? I use chevre ( mysore and chamkila) box, barenia ( smooth and BF), interchanging on a daily/weekly basis and have not had any issues with wear etc., over a very reasonable amount of time. I'd love to find a great swift one as well.

Thanks for this! Very helpful photo. Wonder if they’ll update the sizes listed online - when I checked a few weeks ago, they were listed with identical dimensions.
Replying to my own post here because I compared the calvi duo to my regular calvi in my store last week - the duo I saw was just slightly larger than my calvi: maybe a handful of millimeters bigger in both lateral dimensions and also obviously a bit thicker. I've searched and found photos of a duo being significantly larger than a regular calvi however listed specs on H.com show them as identical, so what I'm saying is the handmade nature of H items must be particularly applicable to the sizes of the duo pieces.

Like @nymeria said, if you peruse this thread you'll find a lot about opening and cards sliding out. I absolutely love my calvis!! Unless you pack it full, whatever you put in there will likely slide around when you open it. I like mine to be nice and flat when closed so I don't stuff them - things do slide but it's no big deal. There are easy ways to minimize this, like sort of pinching one side when you unsnap it. For reference here's what I keep in mine - when I don't take my handbag I add my driving license and one credit card.

As to leathers, I prefer thinner/flatter leathers (smooth barenia, chevre mysore) but chevre chamkila, madame calfskin and evercolor might work for you as they're thicker. I've held them all (and own one in evercolor prior to realizing I prefer thinner options) and they all feel like they'd be pretty durable. I will say though, despite not being known as a "hard wearing" leather, my chevre mysore feels very robust and I use it daily but that's just me and I'm not hard on my things.

Does anyone use their exotic Calvis (or Bastias) as true card/cash holders, or do you keep them for other things?

I am swooning over an ostrich Calvi / Bastia set but I don't know if the leather is too precious to throw around in my bag as a true card/cash holder - the bag I use everyday for work is a pretty roomy tote so my current Epsom Calvi often gets smushed/pushed to the bottom and I'm not sure how an exotic would cope with that. I look after my items but I feel wallets and similar are nevertheless in the 'heavy use' category. I could put an exotic one in a side pocket or only use them in more special occasion bags, but I feel like I'm trying to make excuses just to satisfy my exotic craving

Thoughts welcome!

I purchased two ostrich calvis in Paris. Both are in bright colors and I love them.

The bright colors have an advantage of standing out more in dark purse interiors. They seem less delicate than other leathers and have are slightly thicker due to the nature of the material.

I couldn't find them in my local store and had to have both when the SA presented them to me in Sevres.
