Do you think it could be the climate that causes the leather to turn yellow?

I think I should just pass up on the bag. It's driving me crazy..I haven't even bought it and I'm worrying so much already. I should read the sign and move on. :hysteric:

Hi ladies,

I'm thinking of getting a classic flap in white...but it got me thinking, will it turn yellow-ish after a few years?

For those of you who have owned and used your bags for a number of years, how are the bags holding up? Is the white still the beautiful blinding white it is?

I'm just wary of the colour turning yellow and of colour transfers from jeans especially!

Thanks :)

I didn't have my Chanel for years, just 1 year. Anyway it was white lambskin and I wear lots of jeans and no color transfer. It wasn't turning yellow. The longer place it looked slightly used was the corners grayed slightly. I sold it on a whim and have honestly regretted it ever since.

I have a white caviar e/w, and I used to wear it a LOT.. so it turned gray on me! But the discolouring was superficial and they were able to remove it with one visit to the Chanel boutique. I think you'll be okay in terms of the color.. just be careful with brand new jeans... after the cleaning, my bag was and still is blinding white :smile1:

Most of my white bags are caviar and I've never had a problem with yellowing or color transfer. The great thing about caviar is that you can wipe it down with baby wipes and it looks good as new. The boutique can also redye the bag if needed.

How do you deal with the stitching/threads when it gets dirty? I just bought a white wash caviar flap and I did the search and some leather cleaner/conditioner can clean the dirt of the bag....but what about the stitching itself? Please advice. TIA

Hi Ladies,

For some reason, I'm obsessed with the idea of a white Chanel bag (probably caviar) these days, after yeeeears of staying far clear of white bags.

So tell me, is white easy to keep clean... or a disaster waiting to happen?

Thanks!

I just bought a white WOC; I'll probably post again if I have issues with colour transfer etc. From the black caviar I own, it seems very low maintenance and not prone to colour problems.

to me white is a disaster! proven by my LV's MC pochette. i barely use it while i use my mono cherise poch all the time!!!

stating that, my cousin has a white caviar e/w and my cousin doesn't take care of her purses really she just hangs them on her door knobs and not in their dust bags and she takes them out to shopping, to clubs, etc. saying that i think its in a great condition. still white despite her having it for about 2 yrs. so if you took caution and took care of it, i'm sure it'll be fine.
just don't go around dipping your purse into stainers :P

^ thanks Jennzy - your cousin sounds like me. If I buy a bag, I want to wear it, not baby it (except my H bags - I baby those). I'm basically waiting to see if anyone else has had a big disaster with white to dissuade me :)

i believe white caviar is easier to maintain..

can use baby wipes non-alcohol and non-fragance on the bag after use to remove surface dirts.

if any color transfer happens, can always send back to chanel for professional cleaning or get meltonian all purpose leather cleaner and conditioner to remove the color transfer..

When store the bag, avoid direct sunlight exposure as it will cause the white to turn yellowish.

I believe white caviar flap can enjoy as many years as a black caviar flap can.
