Brands you don't like/don't buy from/find personally to be overrated?

I see far too much 'attitude' here. I don't like things or brands because of my own reasons, some of which I've stated above. I don't base my decisions on what the lifestyles are of people who choose to wear the things i don't like. If I did, 'nose in the air' would be among my top criteria.
Honestly, these "things I dislike" thread never end up well.

t’s a fine line with these type of threads. Being able to express ones’ taste without crossing over into being mean/rude about other people’s choices. My opinion OP.

Talking about stuff is one thing; going out of one's way to trash entire groups of people is quite another.

I won't buy Chanel because of its unseemly history.

My favorite brands are mostly canadian like cleo, rickies, reitman for clothing. I like their style and the sales are great too. For basic bags im a fan of kipling. I use to like mk and coach but i stopped buying for awhile. Except for that disney themed coach bag i bought months ago because its disney lol. Im not a fan of long champ lapliage line. They are not comfortable to use imo. I have one that my mom gifted me.

I have trouble trashing any brand. My mother taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it.

I have Coach bags that are over 40 years old and still in great shape. Most brands don't have quality that lasts that long. I've had Fendi and Gucci bags from the 90s that were falling apart.

I personally don't care for Michael Kors because the salespeople are too pushy and Michael Kors himself is annoying on Project Runway, but I have an outlet Michael Kors purse I've had for years that I absolutely love. Recently I bought several Michael Kors blouses that I'm happy with.

I don't see myself ever buying LV logo items. The logo is too ubiquitous and aspirational.

I can't see myself ever buying a Hermes. The styles aren't for me. They seem too stiff and boxy, and I don't see the value.

I have a Chanel coin purse. If I ever bought a Chanel bag, it would have to be something different. I can't see myself carrying something that everyone else carries. I do appreciate the quality.

I don't see the appeal of Stella McCartney. Way too expensive for non-leather. I love leather anyway.

I think that sometimes fast fashion is fun. I've bought a ton of camisoles at Forever 21. At $1.90 each, it is a no-brainer to get them in every color. However, I do like my nicer camisoles better, and get those in basic colors I wear all the time. I like VS underwear. I like that I can have 100s of panties for not much money, all different, and don't have to do laundry for a very long time. Their bras fit me so well that I've stopped looking for bras anywhere else.

I have reservations about Marc Jacobs because I bought a bracelet that fell apart the first time I wore it. Kate Spade makes very cute quirky stuff but it isn't very good quality. A Kate Spade coin purse I have fell apart after only a few months use.

I don't want to buy something associated with a celebrity. Just because someone can sing or act, or is famous, is no reason for them to get into fashion.

Every time a thread like this started, I make a bet with myself on how long before someone trash MK! I personally don't own anything from them but I have seen people wearing MK looking quite respectable. It's ok if you don't like the brand but it's not ok to trash people who does. You can express your opinion with respect. Otherwise you are just the same as what you are accusing others of.

LV, seriously it just seems so awfully tacky and if I am their advertisement, they should pay me not charge outrageous prices, Cavalli, total bling overload.
Some of the older MK clothing and bags were nice, classic, now it just seems the quality and design has gone down and it is the brand that very loud and brash set likes.
I used to love the DvF wrap dresses from silk jersey (provided she didn't go nuts on patterns) but I have no clue what happened, tried on a few lately and they seem to have changed the fit, the cleavage is now more tacky nightclub than effortless style.

I think their quality and design has gone down, I have a wrap dress that I bought 4 years ago, black, classic, still love it and a pair of heels, and one bag, staple items, but the new stuff, it seems too gaudy and the quality is just not there, seams that are not even and all that. I do have to agree that most of the people who seem to flash MK logos tend to be a certain type, it does really ruin it as personally, I don't want to be associated with them. Bit of a shame because for a while I liked buying the odd thing, but lately I can browse it and not see a single thing I would want to have.

ITU and I would support in that (if the history your thinking about is the one in my mind too - the reason I don't buy Boss perhaps(?)) I don't mind Chanel because it's one of the last independent fashion houses (not Kerring or LVMH) and is owned by the Wertheimer family, a family Madame Chanel tried to betray many times.

I think it's OK to say what you feel is "personally overrated". It's quite another thing to be judgmental and rude about the people who think otherwise and enjoy wearing that brand.

If anyone find any singular post here overly rude or personal just report the post.

Several posts have covered a lot of my dislikes but I’ll throw these two in:

Madewell - everything I’ve seen is wayyy over priced for the quality. Even their bags. I’ve tried on sweaters, shorts, dresses, bags.....they feel too cheap for the prices they’re asking. I bought a few T-shirts at NR because they were marked down. They lasted through two washings before they stretched out and shrank up lol. I can’t imagine paying full price for their stuff. The cuteness is there but not the quality for the $$$.

Lilly Pulitzer: the quality is there but those bright colors and patterns are just too much for me.

Victoria Beckham will never be trendy or popular. She's got awful, overpiced clothing.

You might find that the buyers and the fashion experts completely disagree with you, she is extremely popular and considered super trendy. Yes the clothes are quite expensive, a bit too much for the wear I get out of them, so I usually don't buy them, but the cuts and designs are usually very good. She actually does what fashion should do, flatter the female shape. Far too many designers go totally nuts on ideas that might look great on a 6 foot 2 runway model with 120 lbs, but will look horrendous on anybody over a size 2.
