Brands you don't like/don't buy from/find personally to be overrated?

My list of brands I don't like:

I agree about Supreme, Abercrombie, and Lularoe unless it's leggings for pyjamas because I do love them for that.
LV anything, just too ubiquitous, I don't want to be a part of it.
Michael kors same reason as above but even more so where I live.
Tory Burch became gaudy in the last decade; loved the style before that but maybe it was because I myself was in my twenties and more the target audience then? Who knows.
Zara must be evil for them to make such huge profits.
H&M just is such crap quality
Victoria's secret also bad quality
Marimekko is too expensive for cotton print

But the main thing I avoid is synthetic fibers and non machine washable. I browse second hand stores a lot and if I see something nice I immediately check the tag to see if it's easy to launder and no polyester or acrylic and if there's any other synthetic content it's a tiny minority in the blend. I don't pay attention to brands usually.

Any logo on clothes is a no.

Any of the “Contemporary Designers” (ex. Alice+Olivia) you find at the major department stores that charge $400+ for a sweater made in China is a no from me. In fact, any “designer” clothing item made in China is a no.

ita. i had a sweater from a "premiere" designer that pilled before the season was over. never getting any clothes from that brand again, disappointing to say the least. i didn't check the label till it started shedding all over my clothes and of course, made in china. a lot of things (not just fashion-related) are mic so it is unavoidable but i try to avoid them if possible.

I go out of my way to avoid is synthetic fibers and non machine washable. Basically if you bought anything polyester it’s like wearing a plastic bag in the heat wave - so uncomfortable! You see so many people in London now shunning synthetics, wearing loose silk tops and denim shorts to cope with the weather being so hot
I am happy to buy second hand and if I always check the tag to see if it's easy to launder and no polyester or acrylic. Silk Is my favourite, followed by sophisticated silk/linen silk cotton mixes. They are cool and drape well.
I avoid all fast fashion brands as much as I can. Check the fabric content- mostly unwearable & uncomfortable landfill material!
I actually love Chanel and Hermes but cannot stand Michael Kors.
I like small French brands like majestic filatures, or Justine Leconte. The designs are timeless and is all about quality fabrics and good cut.

My first luxury purchase was versace about 22 years ago. ( I'm showing my age now!) I wanted everything that all the other girls had so couldn't resist. Things started to fall apart after a few months Albeit I was younger and not as gentle on my items as I am now. I swore off buying Versace after that.
Now I do find the LV purses to be a bit too much for me. I do not like being a walking billboard for a brand. Plus I'm also not interested in looking like everyone else anymore. So I stay away from logo heavy items now. I got one LV ( preloved) around 20 years ago and that held up a bit better but I'm just not into all the logos.
I'm more into a simple look now that isn't so overboard.

Sad to see how Michael Kors' expansion in to a mass market brand has really hurt the brand. I had a couple of MK bags many years ago (before they were at every outlet mall :P) and I was happy with them for the price. I LOVE 90s/earlys 00s MK runway looks; it's so classically American, sporty, healthy glamour - all tanned and shiny haired models parading down the runway.

Certainly not ground breaking stuff but genuinely wearable, clean looks that personified NY design. I miss you, old MK :(

I can't think of any brands that I don't like out of hand. I don't really shop at stores like H&M and F21 anymore because nothing hurts more than finding something you love from a distance but up close is just a mess of cheap, unflattering synthetic fabrics.

Michael Kors Collection clothes, as opposed to Michael Michael Kors, are still quite nice. I bought a beautiful MK Collection gown to wear to a wedding and got lots of compliments. It was a one off left from last season that I got for $900 down from $4k at the Outnet.

I don't think I could write off a brand just because I think some of their designs are ugly.

Come to think of it, when I was a lot younger, I wouldn't even think of buying anything Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, or Hermés. I thought of them as things of "old rich ladies" or "grandma" types.

But look at me now! I have at least one item from those brands ( still find some LV designs ugly, though). My taste and fashion sense changed.

What I won't buy: Abercrombie, Supreme, LuLaRoe
Reason: Streetwear and patterned leggings are Just not my style.

I don't think some of LV or Chanel's designs are ugly. I think all of them are. But that's personal taste and opinion.

I find it very difficult to write off entire brands because often times you might find an unexpected item while browsing so I’ll give every store the benefit of the doubt. Plus it’s fun to be surprised!

I had previously written off both Chanel and Coach and just this year I purchased items from both stores, whereas in the past I loved Louis Vuitton and Gucci but have drifted away since the designers were replaced.

Moreover, a brand’s aesthetic is fluid overtime and can change drastically with a new designer.

Therefore a brand that you wrote off today might be a favourite tomorrow! Since Christopher Bailey left Burberry I don’t have a clue what has happened to their once sophisticated runway line.
For me, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Gucci are not fluid enough design wise for me to like them. Sorry, but that's just how I feel.

Wise words!

I caught myself liking a dress in Tory Burch's window the other day. I was shocked because I normally wince.

I can also usually see the merit in most clothing ranges even if I wouldn't wear it myself.

but

I don't see the appeal of Zadig & Voltaire, it's like Zara Basics at 20 x the price.
Come to think f it, Zara for their dubious politics and policies.
Abacrombie Fitch. Guys, you have been duped. And give back Savile Row (London) to the makers of real men's clothes.
Victoria Secret. Hideous and hideous quality underwear. There is so much better out there. VS is Disney for adults.

Isabel Marant. How long can she raid her youth for ideas? And stop naming everything.
Vetements. How long can Demna Gvasalia raid his mother's wardrobe? Not a new or idea in sight. The joke is def on us.
Victoria Beckham, its a brand with no soul. Just redesigning your competitor's best sellers is not creative.

Send all your unwanted Chanel suits ad vintage Gucci my way. There's a reason some clothing holds its value.

Victoria Beckham will never be trendy or popular. She's got awful, overpiced clothing.

Yes, seriously. Do you have a problem with that? Are you offended?
I don't think it's a fair comment at all, you cannot possibly bundle people who wear a certain brand like that. No doubt certain brands attract certain sensibilities, but you cannot claim that , everyone with Chanel is stylish or everyone with MK is basic. The comment comes across as rather aggressive...

No need to be sorry for your taste.

I think she had some nice pieces, not my taste and yes perhaps overpriced. BUT She does 'made in England' and avoids sweatshops which is a positive step I think.

For me, I associate Michael Kors with mass produced, tacky clothing. Most people who wear his items are people I've interacted with and they were people I wouldn't associate with in my daily life anyway.

Again, it is my opinion, and while it may be aggressive to you or anyone else here, I truly could not care less. That is her/your problem, not mine. Everyone who shops at Chanel is not stylish, I never said that anywhere in my comments at all, seeing as I don't even like Chanel.

As far as your comments on Victoria Beckham, yes, they are made in England, which is a nice thing, but there's still no need for the overpriced pieces. There are plenty of designers who make things in their country and don't cost even half as much. That is not an excuse.
