Box shortage ?!

If temporary this
isn’t a huge deal for repeat customers who are buying for themselves.

However...for new customers and for anyone buying a gift this would be quite disappointing.

On a corporate level this shows really poor management. When you charge high end jewelry prices there is no reason why you have a 6 + week delay and can’t come up with alternative beautiful packaging. I still remember December 2017 when they couldn’t supply adequate holiday velvet ribbons to boutiques. They are bad at this!

I agree there prices are way too high to not have a full experience. I’ve work in retail all my life and this is not acceptable and they’re saving so much money by not having any of this stuff that I also question how much they’re really out of it or how greedy and pushing it off they are. Because corporate retail are some shady shady places

It's neither a U.S. issue nor a Chanel issue. There is a cardboard box and packaging shortage worldwide due to Covid. The whole world increased the demand on packaging, including boxes, due to an increase in shopping online and getting everything delivered. Other houses are hit with a box and packaging shortage as well, including high end resellers.

I just purchased my first bag from the Chanel boutique and it didn’t come with the box, I was quite disappointed. But since coco handle is hard to get I just went ahead and purchased it and wait till my SA ship me the box. There’s nothing we can do since there’s a shortage of boxes. Honestly I don’t mind waiting since most of my Chanel boxes are placed in my closet anyway.

My bag just came with a generic white box and Chanel ribbons and Camilla But like what other people said if this is your first purchase, I think the full package is more important vs people that buy very frequently from Chanel.

Box shortage aside...When they are charging well over $5000 for a bag I think they can put a couple creative minds together and come up with beautiful alternative packaging for the interim. Those white warehouse boxes can be wrapped exquisitely with other materials.

I can say that the box shortage really is a worldwide issue affecting not only Chanel.

I work in manufacturing and the lead time for packaging material, boxes and card board is getting super long!!

Yesterday I purchased a bag from a Chanel boutique and they were out of boxes. My SA mentioned Chanel corporate had cut back on packaging to help cut on expenses and save their associate’s job during Covid. He offered for a box to be sent once they are back in stock. It might be worth contacting your SA and asking if they can do the same!

I just received one package from a Chanel Boutique yesterday. It came with a plain white box, ribbon and no Camellia. :P

I’m jealous you even got a ribbon! I was there yesterday, no box, no camelia and no ribbon, SA said they ran out in November and even for holiday camellia they only had one week’s worth of supply.

Does that come across as BS to anyone else? Chanel is a private company so they don’t have to actually release their figures in sales but come on most of the stores didn’t actually stop selling during Covid. They’ve had to price increases since the beginning of the pandemic. And best I can tell their goods have been selling like hotcakes with the only real issue being they can’t make them fast enough. Someone please tell me if I’m wrong. Just seems outrageous to say that you cut back on packaging in order to be able to pay your associates...

I agree with you. Their bags and RTW are currently selling like hotcakes, especially in Asian countries DURING a pandemic. And they’ve increased prices TWICE in less than a year! They shouldn’t worry about losing profits or having to pay for their associates.

Apologies, I’m sure he said headquarters instead of corporate. However, not sure if this was a scripted response. Given the price tag on goods, I’m glad he offered to send a box once they’re back in stock!
