Box shortage ?!

When I picked up my new pink flap on Saturday my SA also mentioned the box shortage but like others said that she would reach out when they get boxes in.

I’m definitely going to follow up, I keep the box for each of my Chanel purchases. Currently they line the bottom of my closet shelves and other things go on top of them.

So glad I’m not the only one! I picked up my mini rectangular last Tuesday and my SA said they were out of boxes too. She said they had been out since October last year. i guess more customers bought bags than previously planned. That or....is it possible they are redesigning their boxes to be more eco friendly, so waiting to ship out new “boxes” ?? Paper material similar to their new shopping bags??

Same thing happened to me. I just bought a bag from Bergdorf. I’m okay with it though, I’m going to throw it away anyway..

Ah dont throw it away! You can actually sell it for like $25 or more.
If you ever sell your bags, the complete set with box sells for a bit more.
I've never sold my bags but I might be weird in that I love having the whole complete

Same, i got mine 3 weeks ago and no box or camelia or pretty packaging. My SA said as soon as they received stock she would mail it out to me.

This is true! My last purchase arrived in a plain black box made out of thin cardboard material, and shaped like a shoe box.

Although I was initially disappointed am okay since am on the camp for reduced waste and packaging. What I didn't appreciate is SA not telling me upfront about this, I feel that was sneaky and am not ok with that.

I received my package yesterday and my small boy bag was in a small chanel rectangular box. I think it’s a shoe box ...I guess they ran out of the box for bag and got creative?

Are the Chanel ribbons usually suppose to be a shiny satin type of material? My friend bought a medium classic flap and the ribbon the SA tied on was kind of textured and looked like linen. She also got a box that was extra large likely for a maxi or something guess they're running low.

For what they charge for a handbag this is inexcusable. Let's be honest, with price increases and quality decreases people go to Chanel for the status and the luxurious experience. Many stores are closed or the experience is limited so they should be elevating their packaging game, not wrapping bags in bubble wrap or plain boxes.

I placed an order of a medium classic flap today and my SA told me about the box shortage. She sent me a picture of the packaging. I asked for the original white box.

No box, no ribbon, no camelia, and no dust bag. How about the cleaning cloth and the booklet for the classics?

Same. Two bags purchased from the boutique right before Christmas. No boxes available, but SA was very apologetic and put them in some tall white handled bags that closed at the top, and had the Chanel logo. She also affixed camellias to each bag. They actually looked lovely. Apparently they are sending boxes in the mail to everyone who has purchased and not received boxes during the shortage. Though I can see this taking the shine off of a first-time purchase, I don't think it's a big deal if the box is sent after the fact. Nothing to be upset about for me, personally, as I'm not new to Chanel. Sometimes we have to wait for things, you know. Even Chanel isn't perfect.

Same! I bought my M/L CF 2 weeks ago thru a SA in Madison who informed me that there was a box shortage & that he would send a box when one came available. It came packed really nicely with the ribbon & camellias. He just texted me that he got a box and is sending it to me!

This times 1000! I love my bag but this is the first time I’ve opened a Chanel shipping box and lost excitement.

Same! I didn’t get a ribbon or a camellia either.

Yeah, I didn’t get anything other than the dustbag and cleaning cloth. Even a camellia or a ribbon would’ve made a difference.

Same here. They are short on supplies. I was told they will send me the black Chanel box when they get shipment of supplies. However I do not count on it. They will probably forget it.
I am just happy I got the bag and the color I wanted before increase and put the box they sent into recycle bin...

I did manage to get my bag before the price increase as well so I am happy about that. I feel like they should provide the option to have a box or not moving forward. It seems that a lot of people just chuck them so it makes sense not to give a box to someone who will just throw it away. I keep my boxes for storage though and moving since I live in an apartment.

Interesting! Glad I came across this thread. My BG SA told me he’s out of boxes as well and will send my bag in a BG box and send the Chanel box later when they get some.

Hm that’s weird that your SA said they ran out of boxes since last October. I ordered 4 classic flaps over the phone (from Saks and NM) since Oct and had everything (black magnetic box, Camilla, Chanel ribbons, and dust bag), the most recent one was ordered 2 weeks ago. I’m pretty shocked to see they don’t include the magnetic boxes.. even after the price increase.
