Box shortage ?!

I knew there was a box shortage but I was still a little taken aback when I opened up my new 21p CF that was shipped to me and got the stock box. I've been buying Chanel for awhile so I don't need an unboxing experience or another box in the house but it did feel like a bit of a "f you" when I just purchased a bag over 7k. All I could do was laugh.

Same here. And seeing your purchases packed in stock boxes cheapen the whole experience. So much for a luxury brand that increases the price of their products whenever they can!

There’s just no excuse given that LVMH brands, which sells more bags than Chanel, still have boxes. LVMH was able to secure box production even during a pandemic. Chanel could have avoided this had they ordered boxes way back when. They could have looked for other box manufacturers. But looks like they didn’t even try and just waited to eventually run out of boxes.

After my recent shopping experience at Chanel, I got an automated email from the boutique asking for a review. I gave them a favorable review but pointed out that the box shortage got me taken aback.

My recent purchase was nicely packed in a department store box, but I still want the traditional Chanel box. My SA said they'd ship me a box when they come in...I'll follow up to make sure I get one.

Just wondering, if they actually do follow up on the missing boxes (some time soon) will that not actually deepen the difficult situation? There are new sales basically everyday without the boxes and will continue on after these boxes arrive. So I only see two scenarios:
1. they follow up with the missing boxes ASAP and anger the customers who haven’t gone through with the purchase just yet. As they would end up without a box for the time being.
2. they please the customer right in front of them by giving them the box and therefore the „full“ experience but cannot follow up with the boxes.

From a SA standpoint (I am not one) it would make more sense to please the customer whom I can serve with the full experience. The customer from last year / month will not re-acquire the missed experience and most likely won’t be as happy as the new customer.

Hope I could articulate my thoughts the way I mean them. I am in no way saying that anyone without the box shouldn’t get theirs. I am only honestly wondering exactly how they will do it. Personally, I wouldn’t be happy to not get a box if they have them as it takes the unboxing fun away. Getting a box weeks later won’t be the same and I probably wouldn’t care too much by then. What do you think? How will the solve this logistical issue?

I purchased a black card holder in caviar leather with gold hardware from Chanel last week. I received the standard black box and ribbon but no camelia. This past Saturday I was finally able to purchase a medium classic flap in black caviar leather and gold hardware and was told that there was a box shortage. My SA did give me the option whether I would like to move forward with the purchase or not. I chose to move forward with my purchase. While it was disappointing to hear I am glad that my SA mentioned it to me! Hopefully the boxes are available soon because I definitely would like to receive one. It seems like the shortage is only affecting the larger boxes.

Saw this on Instagram. Gosh, I’d be so pissed if they send me a bag wrapped like that in paper! Nothing about this is luxury. Lol.

I feel for those who just bought their first classic flaps during this stupid box shortage dilemma! Imagine receiving your dream bag looking like that! It ruins the whole experience.

Again, there’s just no excuse when other fashion houses have secured the production of their boxes during a pandemic.
