Box shortage ?!

I think they are shorting in the packaging as well. I received my earrings today and there isn't any camellia flower :crybaby:. One of my bag arrived without box, ribbon, and camellia flower, I was shocked !!!

there is no box shortage in my country (prices are too high, income per capita is way too low, less than 1% of the country can afford buying chanel consistently) but i've received costume jewellery without a camelia before and it is always very disappointing.

Yeah, my friend in UK doesn’t have that problem either. Hopefully the packaging supplies will be available at the end of this month :angel:
 
Chanel is clearly trying to cut costs. I don't buy this cardboard shortage argument. Is the pandemic also causing fabric shortages to make ribbons? Someone said earlier in the thread that it's because they're trying to save jobs. It seems far fetched and crazy when they are charging ever increasing prices but these price increase are just offsetting volume loss. People might be buying bags but they're also not making impulse purchases that would typically accompany their main purchase. Or RTW. Loss of foot traffic and store closures in US are also squeezing their top line when they are paying premium rental space. Someone clearly thought they could get away with this and maintain profitability. Honestly it's ridiculous for a luxury brand. Would you be OK checking into a hotel if they told you no shampoo is available because of plastic shortage? This is simply unacceptable.
 
Just adding that Las Vegas Wynn boutique is also out of boxes as of 02/21/2021 - I just picked up my coco handle and they informed me they are out of boxes :( Didn't get a Camelia flower either. Reaching out to my usual SA to see if he can ship it to me when they restock. Quite a disappointing trip from the boutique :/
 
I ordered a seasonal bag and was disappointed when it came. The bag itself is beautiful. There was no box. When I visit the boutique and purchase I actually tell them to not give me a box as I do not keep them. I find that different than when I am expecting the item to be shipped. Although the bag was in it's Chanel dustbag and wrapped with tissue paper it only came in a Chanel cardboard envelope. There are creases on the back of the bag. I am not sure if those creases were already on the bag or if it was a result of the shipping process and not well protected. I think the creases will come out once I stuff the bag with some tissue paper. Again, I love the bag but that unwrapping experience definitely took some joy out of getting a Chanel. I also ordered a card case from a different boutique that came perfectly wrapped and very secure within the outer box. It was like night and day between the 2 packages. It's definitely a 1st world problem so I feel guilty for even mentioning it lol.

I just bought a bag and my SA was unable to give a box due to the same reasons. She said that she was told that the shipments are sitting somewhere is some country lol
She did tell me that once they come in, she'll give me one so hopefully that happens.
I wonder if its just the US, since my cousin just bought a bag in England and it came nicely packaged.

I think it's per boutique. I bought a few bags in the past month (from different boutiques) and some came shipped in a Chanel box and some came in a Chanel cardboard envelope.
 
I have a bag on reserve for me and going in to pick it up today. My local boutique is in California and my SA texted me with an update saying due to covid they do not have packaging (black box and camellias) but I will get one shipped out to me when they do. ;(

Same thing I was told by Chanel too
 
Just out of curiosity, do they provide the black boxes with magnetic closure for the Deauville as well? Just bought my first two Deauvilles but didn’t get boxes due to the shortage but I’m not sure if these bags are given the black boxes since they’re so big.
 
I just bought a small XXL flap from BG and there's still a box shortage. The SA didn't offer to send me a box once they have them but I may follow up in a month or so and ask if he can do that. It's the first time I've ordered from this SA. It did come in a nice BG box with ribbons, camellia, and booklet with cloth BUT the dust bag had dirt on it! I do agree with what others are saying about the price increases making this harder to accept.
