I also just purchased a bag and was not given a box or camellias. My SA said the whole company was out, but that they (my store, anyway) were keeping track of who was owed packaging. I definitely agree with disappointment from it. I did at least get a dust bag and cleaning cloth!

There isn't a shortage in Canada. I've bought several bags recently and received boxes with all of them.
This seems to be a very US centric issue...why though?
Personally, until people make the decision not to purchase the item if it cannot be wrapped properly, I do not see Chanel being in any rush to rectify this issue. I also find it very hard to believe that the stores will actually reach out and ship boxes to these customers who have purchased without boxes. In my estimation this box shortage has been ongoing for approximately three months. I personally would postpone the purchase. I truly enjoy the “wrapping”.
I got a cardholder two weeks ago as my first Chanel purchase ever and it came with everything (box, dust bag, care booklet, ribbon, shopping bag, camellia etc). A few days ago I got a small Chanel 19 and with that I got the dust bag, care booklet, cleaning cloth, shopping bag and ribbon. No camellia and the bag wasn’t wrapped in tissue paper, but it was put in the dust bag inside the white factory shipping box and that was tied with the ribbon. Not ideal for my first bag purchase, but it is what it is.
My SA offered to send me a box when they get them, but like others have said they owe so many people boxes at this point, I’m not sure I’ll get one when they finally do get them in. I will be following up periodically so they don’t forget to send me one.

I have always got a box when purchasing a deauville - the boxes are massive!
My BFF got her box yesterday, for a January purchase (Stand-alone boutique). Seems the box shortage is coming to an end.
I purchased a Chanel bag a couple weeks that was shipped from a boutique in Hawaii and it arrived without a box. I also ordered a small item from Fendi online and a Moynat bag from 24s and they both arrived without boxes too (although I reached out to 24s and they are sending one).

The same thing happened to me just now when I made a purchase from 21s. My SA said she is keeping track and will send one when supply comes in.
I really don’t think Chanel is trying to cut costs. We’re in a pandemic manufacturing is down across all industries. We are getting custom draperies for our home and it’s the same issue there, warehouses where the production happens are either closed or operating at limited capacity resulting in much less supply of the actual product and long wait times for customers.
I couldn’t care less about the box. Mine all get recycled or used for storage anyways. It’s a box and I don’t resell anything. I buy bags for me and to keep forever. If this deters resellers than maybe they should continue not offering boxes ha! If it really bothers you that much (I don’t understand why it would unless you’re worried about reselling), then just don’t buy a bag from Chanel. No one is forcing you.

I don’t know...I don’t need the box but it’s not as fun to open the packages...
...I will still purchase but I think it’s fair to express disappointment and question why the US is having such difficulty when other countries have stock...
I'm confused about this box shortage. I thought factory fresh merchandise was shipped in the vendor box which would be the Chanel black box. I know the store adds the Camilla and ribbons. I have had to tell several Sa that I want my shopping bag and all wrappings when my items are shipped. At this point I would have thought production would have been caught up by now for boxes. I have been hearing these complaints since December 2020. If lysol, alcohol and tp are sitting on the shelves I don't understand this one.
