You may also want to look at Sombrero, which is VERY matte.
DocRide's Luxury Again makes a box calf polishing kit, which I think can be used to achieve shine on box when you want it. I tried it on my 1952 Kelly and I'm just too chicken to really brush and buff the bag, but it's a great kit.
Yes! I have a Rouge H Sombrero K28...love this leather!

Sorry to be all over the place. These will be the last photos I post today of raisin , I promise!
A comparison of raisin box with clemence, both GHW
Both scrumptious bags! That raisin box!
No wonder we can’t just have one bag in the same color... lol
This thread is making me want to have a box bag in every color since all colors look amazing in box!
Hi! Just want to share a pic of my 35cm sellier Kelly with ghw in box calf leather. It's blue but I'm not sure what Hermes calls the shade. if anyone knows the colour name do let me know. It looks very dark, like navy without much lighting while in broad daylight the blue hue is obvious. It's an E stamp.
Tq!
Stunning blue. What a unique box bag!

What a beauty. Enjoy seeing the bigger size bags in the current small bag trend. Colour could be Blue de Prusse or Blue Thalassa, although the latter normally had external white stitches, I think.

I think when it comes to H, it’s partially the current small bag trend but also lots of people who wear small bags wouldn’t have bought a K or B before they started making smaller sizes (myself included). I’ve worn a Chanel medium flap, a Fendi Baguette and small bags my whole life.

Ladies ... need your advise. I sent my vintage Rouge H Box K28 to be cleaned at the Hermes spa. Paris reverted with a proposed lists of items to replace, apart from the cleaning, which are handle, bag strap, metal plate and hanging cord.

The new handle and strap costs are almost 80% of the total spa cost. I wasn’t even aware that the handle, metal plate and hanging cord needed replacing. Haha.

I am not sure if I should replace the handle and get a bag strap. It is a vintage bag. Should I keep it in its original form or should I spend 30-40% of a new bag to modernise it? Appreciate any thoughts on this subject.

Why don’t you ask why they they’re suggesting a replacement and how mich longer will the handle last if you don’t replace it?
I wouldn’t pay for repairs if they cost more or as much as the bag, unless it was a bag that had sentimental value to me. I’d sell the bag and buy another one in better condition. It’ll probably cost you less than fixing this one.

I would if I really adore it and time to give it a fresh finish
In time to come you'll still need to spend this amount with new price list
Its going to last for a lifetime

I like vintage bags to look vintage. I want cracks and ‘mechanical’ things fixed and the leather to look ‘healthy’, but if I wanted the bag to look brand new, I’d buy a new one.

I would LOVE a box bag in every color it is made. I saw a beige box somewhere on here that was so stunning it made me drool. The most classy and sophisticated color and leather ever.

If you love it as it is, keep it as it is. You know your bag - if it's structurally sound, you are fine.

I had a craftsman offer to replace the hardware on my 1952 box Kelly just to modernize it - when I declined he smiled and said "I was hoping you'd keep the brass". Paris is probably just letting you know what you CAN do. (Personally I'd take the strap....I need to get a strap made for my twin of your Rouge H bag.)
