The origami plume (french for feather) is soft to the touch, and has Tejus (lizard) handles. It takes 2 and a half days to make the entire bag. The bag shape is created from 280 "origami" made by folding, gluing, sewing and assembling by hand. The leather pieces are 4 different size types. You can see the detailing on the bottom - each piece follows the bag's circular shape.

Something new for FW2010, from dear B!!!

Mini Ponza (the fabrication name), the Belly Veneta in a beautiful Petal color.

It is very reminiscent of embroidery reproducing the Intreccio design with an embossed effect. The nappa leather is placed over a cotton wool base and then embroidered using an elastic thread. The elastic thread creates tension on the skins making the relief "bunched" effect. This workmanship takes a lot of leather because of the natural movement obtained with the elastic thread.

This bag is from the upcoming FW 2010/2011 collection and is only available in Hawaii - the mainland stores will not receive the Mini Ponza Belly Veneta in Petal.

*note - the name of fabrication is Mini Ponza, the Belly is not a mini in size.

A new weave/treatment for Fall Winter 2010... I guess it's called "Marcapunto" since that term keeps appearing on most of the description of the upcoming F/W bags. I'm not exactly sure if the term is Italian or Spanish but "marca punta" refers to a stitching technique with visible seams. We need more info on the actual BV process!

From the French verb plisser, which means to crease, to fold or to pleat. It refers to an intentionally wrinkled, pleated or puckered effect on fabric or other materials.

The "term" reminds me of the crinkled portion of the Paille Vitellino Lisse Cabat from S/S 2010 though this one effect on the Veneta is not crinkled but folded/pleated (via a hot iron???). I'm sure the others will chime in once they get the specific details from BV on how this effect was done.

Here's another new treatment for F/W 2010... It's the standard intrecciato nappa weave but it has those little embroidered pieces sewn on the surface. I actually don't know the name of this "treatment"... so someone please chime in.

Here it is on the Aquatre bag. I believe they're also using this on a Knot. Pics of that on the F/W 2010 thread.

TankerToad - I believe this treatment is called Pointillisme

Bark Monza - from the F/W 2010 Mens line

The color name is Bark and I guess they're naming the treatment Monza since it was inspired by the racing cars in Monza, Italy.

The treatment somehow reminds me of the Fever/Anemone/Esperance brushed calf cabat from F/W 2009 though this one is obviously made of a different material (matte calkfskin), not as thick and does not have the glossy finish of last year's Cabat. Others please feel free to add if you have more info on the actual BV treatment process.

A little more on the Plisse detailing for FW 2010 from bryan

Intreccio Plisse in Ink/China.

- A special matte/shiny contrasting effect is created thanks to two different materials: the base is in Nappa and the fettuccia plisse in Padova (goat skin); Nappa is in Ink and Padova is in China.
- The weave combines two different types of strips: traditional intrecciato and plisse strips.
- Movement is due to alternating little please and plain parts.
- Panels are initially woven with pleated strips, following a specific design and then completed with the regular fettuce.
- This workmanship needs a lot of leather because of all the pleats: depending on size, 10 to 20 meters of Fettuccia Plisse is required.

The Ink/China Intreccio Plisse Veneta is only available in the Medium size in the US.

This is from Bryan

The entire Scarabeo model is made in Vitellino Lisse, enhanced by a new technique. The Fettuccia used is padded at the center to intensify the iridescent effect. The name Scarabeo was chosen because of the final effect reminiscing a scarab's shade and color variations. The special iridescent effect enhancing the top of the bag, along with the handles, is done through a long [handmade] process: a metallic pearly color is sprayed on to create the iridescent effect [color changes depending on the exposure to the light], then multiple passages are required for the iridescent look and then again to fix it and create the glazed effect.

Extremely hard to capture and more beautiful IRL i am told!
