Intreccio Nuvolato / Caimano...

The entire body is made with tubular leather instead of flat "strips" like the tie dye. The new weave is very special & completely different to others in the collection. In this case, the weave works horizontally, adding a new fettuccia for each passage. This technique is like crochet chaining each stitch to the other. As the work evolves, it is knotted regularly to highlight the intreccio and create vertical lines. This job requires skilled craftsmen as it is highly complex. The weaving stage alone takes 1 day. Adjustable handles are in Caimano/crocodile and embellished by 82 eyelets applied manually.

Patchwork Prezioso (explanation from bryan)

A combination of lizard and tejus skins in 3 colors - yolk, cigar, truffle.
This particular model uses 26 skins, but is made of 50 different pieces. Each piece of patchwork is linked to the others by a special lizard strip. The fettuccia center is padded. Preparation is long and the process is really time consuming: almost 3 days to complete.

Not only that, but I think there's something really wonderful about supporting craftspeople (because this in turn encourages others to learn the craft and keep the skills 'alive')

Yes, I meant that as well. Keeping our traditions alive is crucial... even regarding small things from everyday life: I make pasta by hand like my grandmother used to ..and if I don't have time, I buy it from those who do. :)

Origami (F/W 2007) - from septembersiren

The origami is created by actually folding the leather into origami pyramids and then hand sewn
quite labor intensive
It does look like they cut the leather to achieve this but that is the empty spaces in between the little pyramids

they are coming out with an origami knot bag for cruise in anome (purple)
that is just too pretty for words .

Honeycomb S/S 2009

The honeycomb design starts with tubes of leather sewn with the seam toward the front. Then the seam is manipulated to the left and right, where it is sewn to the corresponding seam of its neighbor. (jburgh)
