Scolpito simply means "embossed" or engraved, stamped in Italian. As you can see from the pictures below, the leather is actually cut to resemble the look of the trademark intrecciato weave.

Safari Patchwork Ricamato Buffalo Veneta from the Cruise 2011-2012 collection
Pictured below is the current season's latest iteration of the classic Veneta style. From time to time, BV would use a different material apart from nappa (lambskin) on a Veneta and this round has a sturdy, textured Buffalo leather base. Ricamato means "embroidered" in Italian and you can see 4-5 different colored threads sewn using a patchwork stitch on top of the standard intrecciato base. The overall effect of the treatment comprise neutral, earthy colors reminiscent of a safari hence the name of the color. Apparently, Tomas Maier was inspired by smoke when conceptualizing the treatment on this bag.
Comes in 3 sizes: (prices in US$ excluding tax)
Medium = $2,250
Large = $2750
Maxi = $3,250
