From the looks of it, certain pieces of fettuce are laser-cut to create the "flake" effect. Scaglie is Italian for "flakes".

As seen below on the Milk Intrecciato Scaglie Cervo Bag and the Assenzio Scaglie Ostrich Tote (also comes in Camp; and an ostrich cross-body version in Nero)

The Micro Pizzo Bag This color is Nero and Plaster. The dimensions are 16" W x 9" H x 8" D, similar to the mini Cabat. This bag is limited to 100 pieces worldwide and retails for $11,000 USD.

It begins with the plaster white leather and then black leather is lazer cut into and layered over the plaster white.

Each piece is separately hand woven, then connected to make the bag.

Here are more pics of the Micropizzo treatment.

"Pizzo" in Italian means "lace" and as you stare at the bag in its entirety (refer to jburgh's post above), I now get why they call it that. It's like having a very intricate lace pattern interpreted in each fettuce and eventually woven in the usual intrecciato style.

Lace Plume - F/W 2011 collection

Light calf leather in Plaster (color name) is covered with a perforated treatment in Nero with uniform sized holes. Then additional lace/flower details are hand-stiched to add texture and complexity to the design.

Available and adapted in 3 styles - Julie, the new silhouette with the braided handle and a cross-body bag.

Exceptional new craftsmanship giving our traditional Cabat an exclusive look.
The name Treccia was chosen because of the braids used on our Cabat instead of our traditional fettuccia.

Treccia is the essential element to this Cabat:
- Each braid is made with Plume leather; the thinnest & lightest materials in BV collection.
- The 3 padded fettucce that makes one braid gives it a soft & smooth feeling.
- Very time consuming hand woven process that takes 3 days due to highly skilled craftsmanship to reach an homogeneous effect.
- Significant amount of leather required to make these Cabats: Medium requires 20 pieces of skin and more than 30 for the Large.

Exclusively restyled handles in Soft Crocodile: attachments are underlined by an embossed line and are slightly padded in order to emphasize the tridimensional effect.

We've seen the treatment on the bag in previous posts. Here's the other version of the micro pizzo treatment done on SLGs (cosmetic case, card case, document case, etc)

Scintille stands for "sparks" or "gems" in Italian. This particular treatment was used on certain F/W 2011 SLGs where a gem was sewn on the center of the weave.

Sometimes, it's not about introducing a treatment but also about interpreting BV's classic intrecciato weave by using different leather combos or integrating other materials.
