Blocked from shopping online at Nordstromrack.com and Hautelook.com

You cannot shop there, any purchases linked to your name or address will be blocked. From my understanding, it is a lifetime ban.
How would they check that? You walk in, buy something with a visa card and don't ship it. Say your name is Jane Doe, it is an anonymous purchase I would think. You can't buy any sought after designer bags that you need to get on a list for, or anything like that.

Your cards are linked to your name and address?? Wild that in 2019 all your information is linked to a magnetic strip and series of numbers but it is. The only way to circumvent this would be to pay cash.

Unless you are paying with the card that is linked to your banned account, that info wouldn't be accessible to the shop, it might be when you return, but if you are using a different card, that should not be an issue when buying

It is my understanding that the ban has always been online only and that they weren’t trying to block you from the stores.

I don’t think you can be banned from BUYING at a physical store unless you have shoplifted or harassed or otherwise done something illegal. They could still ban you from making returns at a physical store if they deem you to be a serial returner. Many stores do this.

many stores such as best buy and sephora can be banned you to return but within 365 days.
the nordstrom stores banned mean lifetime. I guessed someone told me that lifetime

I wasn’t banned, but I received an email asking me why there was a high rate of returns. I responded that I buy multiples because of sizing issues, some items come to me damaged/used. Or, the items simply don’t look good on me.
I thought this might be a pre-cursor to a banned letter.
So far, I have still been able to purchase stuff.
I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I do all my returns at the brick and mortar stores. I buy all my gifts from Nordys. In fact, they sent the amount I spent in one year [emoji15]. Out of control!
Now, I am being careful about purchasing items online from their store. I am purchasing things I already have, but in different colors. I definitely do not want to be banned!
Their response to me was “Thank you for your response and for being a loyal customer”. But, I now know I am on their radar!

Hi!
Just wondering if anyone experienced getting blocked from shopping online at Nordstromrack.com/Hautelook.com?
I was surprised when I received the email this morning. Without even a warning, it looks like Corporate made the decision to cut me off.

Granted, I admit that I do return like 95%...but I mean, i'm honestly not doing anything wrong (i.e. reselling/wearing clothes out). I simply like to browse and sometimes, I order multiple sizes to make sure that I get the right size instead of placing another order. But, I feel like returns are inevitable when you have an ecommerce sites.

So, I called Customer Service right away and they said that the decision is FINAL and that I cannot do anything about it. They pointed out that I can still shop at my local Rack/local full line/ full line online (and that "I can make as many returns as I want") but that I'm simply banned from Rack/Hautelook online.

I'm trying to understand their stance as a business because maybe the'y're assuming I'm doing something shady (but I'm not)...but do you think this is fair? I'm trying to get in touch directly with Corporate because Customer Service said this is out of their reach since it's an executive order. Is it even worth arguing? It's upsetting because I do come across different things online or sometimes if my local rack is out of my size, I do find it online. I'm pretty embarrassed but also upset....

May I please have your thoughts, they will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I also received an email warning due to excessive returns (78%) and I'm a Nordstrom Icon cardholder. The first thing I did was call customer service to explain my returns (sizing on the website was misleading, on-line fulfillment problems - once they sent me the wrong dress). They said that since I called, they would make a notation on my account that I had followed up to their email. I have not shopped on-line @ NR or Hautelook since I received the email. I don't want it to escalate to where they ban my Nordstrom card. To me, sending a warning just made me not want to shop there

but what if you move, the new home buyers can't shop there either?

I would imagine that this might leave them open to a law suit regarding discrimination based on address?

Maybe they should rethink their return policy and introduce a 2 week return period (ample time to decide if you like to keep an item or not) and if you are having over 50% of returns based on your choice, not them sending the wrong or worn items, they simply charge a restocking fee?

I also received a certified letter from Nordstrom banning me from shopping there because of too many returns. They obviously didnt even look at my account because I buy a ton from them and my return is about 25%. I calulated it from my own account going back two years. I return mostly because they stopped carrying petite sizes in their stores. The only option is online shopping. If it doesnt look good or fit I am not keeping it. Just as I would if I tryed it on in the store only I wouldnt have purchased it. You dont have to buy something just because you tried it on in the store and the same goes for online.
For those of you who say I must have returned more than that I have not.
There is no exuse for the extremely rude letter they sent and without any warning.
I tried calling them and expaining my return percentage but they wouldnt even do a review of my account-just said thats the decision they have made.
I have shopped Nordstrom for years and spent thousands of dollars there. I will never shop there again even if I can.
Good luck to those of you who shop there and do any returns.

It's not rude, it is a business decision, if they blocked you, you cost them a lot and don't give them enough profit, why would they be interested in why you return and what your personal reasons are? That is not going to reflect on their balance sheet. Why you return is your own business, your reasoning will not change their costs or profit or shrink the costs of the returns you send them.

If you tried it on in the store there would be no restocking fees, no sending costs etc. You take if off, it goes back on the hanger and on the shop floor, it doesn't work like that with mail returns.

Ask yourself that if you had a job where you make less because somebody returns a lot, would you not try to get rid of that client? I would, as somebody who doesn't return a lot, I am always amazed at the rudeness of people returning a lot, even if they know the item might not suit them, because the costs of it is something every customer pays.

The "thousands of dollars" you spent possibly also mean thousands of dollars in postage and restocking fees, items they have to sell cheaper as they do not have that particular line in store anymore. They are a business and they are keen on keeping customers who make them money. Ask yourself if you would be happy to increase your workload for less payout, if the answer is no, then why should they feel different?
