Sorry this happened to you. I don't understand why they wouldn't take your distance from the nearest shopping centers into account, or warn you. I would try them in another year or so. I don't think a ban for life is such.

It's no news that mid-range to HE retail companies are losing business for a lot of reasons. There are lots of miscalculations on their part on how to deal with fast fashion (where most people in the US buy their clothing), confusion on how to best exploit technological innovations, and herky-jerky changes with customer services and perks.

In other words, they are too used to their old business models, and have no clear path into profits.

I thought this article was interesting --

I once got an email from amazon for returning too much. I’m a prime member for the past 7-8 years and they still asked me why I was returning that much. I called them up and asked to talk to the manager, from them I got the email ID of some return in charge who authorized the email. I sent a long email to that person and they apologized to me. Since then I shop and return the same way but no emails or scolding etc.

95% is extreme.
I have returned 2 items in 5 years and one was because they sent me the wrong item.

I'm sorry but I don't blame them for blocking you. It also isn't fair to the next person that gets your item since it has now been through quite a journey in the mail and in your home, not to sound harsh but it does kinda give me the willies in general

Even when I see beautiful clothes ruined with makeup stains at Nordstroms I get PO'd, those clothes are now unsellable.

Has anyone got banned without receiving an email? I think this may have just happened to me bc I can't add items to my cart. I did a bunch of returns recently for sizing issues (was looking for a dress for a wedding and nothing fit, I'm petite and so hard to find anything). But I never shipped back just returned to store. Prior to the last 2 months I never really ordered/returned much.

I know they can see your return ratio number internally- but they don't show it to us.
I returned a high $$ item after Anniversary sale. It seemed like they were going to give me a hard time about it, until they asked for my cell# and looked up my account. After that, it was no questions asked.
They should at least make this value available to us. And tell us what the calculation time window is, does it reset every year, etc?
If you are in California, you could make a case starting January 1, 2020 that you are entitled to know this, as the California Consumer Protection Act gives customers the right to a copy of data the company has on file on them. You can also ask to delete it.

They'll fight you on it but someone will litigate this at some point. Are hidden scores part of the data a consumer is entitled to? After all, Uber/Lyft share your rating with you.

Yes. That is what happened to me earlier in the year :(. Not being able to add items to my cart, or in some cases, checking out with items only to have the order canceled within a few hours. I reached out to CS and indeed, I was banned. You'd think there would be more formal correspondence about it. I did call and speak to someone, who confirmed it, but I never tried to get them to reverse the decision, if that's even possible. If they want to change their policy that's their prerogative, but the way by which they're doing it is just not respectful, IMO.

But you never know - there could be some random glitch in your account that's creating problems. I'd suggest calling CS to see what's going on.

I thought I was the only one who got upset about seeing ruined clothes with orange makeup on them in stores.
Those clothes are now going to be unsellable all because someone didn't use care and caution while trying them on.
I'm not saying we should act so carefully like we are trying on the Queen's clothing but I do think we should have a bit of respect for the garment and the store itself and for the next customer who may want to purchase that in that size but can't now because it's smeared with makeup.
The nastiest thing I ever saw ( well I didn't see it but smelled it) was that someone peed in Nordstroms dressing room. I ran out and told the clerk that the entire dressing room smelled like urine! They had to close it down for the cleaners to come. Lol!
I do realize that had nothing to do with being banned from Nordstrom rack. Sorry.

I ordered a few dresses on the rack and returned them. I want to order a few more but am afraid that I’ll get banned if I return them because they don’t fit. They never have what I want at the stores near me. I’ve had 3 dresses in my cart for nearly a week because of this. I wish that they offered some sort of in location look up like they do for the full price stores. Clearly that’s not something that they want to do because if they did the stores would get a lot of calls looking for items/people wanting items held for them. I got a dress at the rack and I love it but it’s longer than I would like. Online they have it in petite. But for me I find petite to be 50/50. I feel like a lot of times I try petite it’s a size smaller then regular and it doesn’t fit. For example I bought two pairs of Levi’s one in regular length which fit great, the shorter length was noticeably tighter on my waist. So I’m hesitant to buy the dresses knowing that they might not fit right.

Thank you. I may call at some point. Right now I tried to add an item from my desktop and it worked. So could be a glitch in my app. But I'm not gonna try to checkout bc there is nothing I want to order. Just think it's really bad CS not to send an email or any warning first. Sorry you got banned like that. I never would have even known this was happening if I hadn't read it here.

Exactly, it should be common courtesy, and I bet after they try it on and ruin it they put it back on the rack and take the clean one lol
Ok the pee thing wins the award :lol::lol:

.

Considering that the average return rate in the apparel industry is about 50%, I think you're going to have to adjust your expectations of where your items come from unless you plan to instead live your life in a hermetically sealed bubble. Stains and wearing items around and then returning is not acceptable, but trying on a pair of jeans for 2 min, deciding the size is not right, putting them in a shopping bag or box and returning them the next day is a normal practice, and is not "unfair" to the next shopper. It is a right extended by most company's shopping policies, except for those that only sell final sale items. I don't really see how going through the mail is "quite a journey." You know most items originate in factories in Asia right? Then they went in a shipping container, on a boat, then on a truck to a warehouse?

If you are a size 4 regular, you need to buy a size 6 petite. Usually, petite sizing isn't just "shorter" but cut for a smaller frame as well.

Ya I never understood why they cut it smaller. Which is why it’s frustrating to shop petite. The dress I got is a 14 and that’s the largest size it comes in. I decided to give it a go and ordered them if they don’t fit and I end up getting banned for returning 4 dresses that don’t fit oh well. I’ll spend my money elsewhere, because they clearly don’t want mine, if any of the locations near me ever carried what I want or even if I could check stock in locations near me like you can at their full price store it would avoid a lot of wasted time because I could try the items on in person.

This is exactly what happened to me, ordered some regular and some petite dresses and had to return them all bc none fit properly. And my store had nothing in my size.
