^^^ This.

It did bother me when I saw LouKPeach's email to her supplier, she was obviously looking for quality fake Chanel to incorporate into her scam...

BUT scammers like her would NOT target Chanel boutiques since they do not give cash refunds, exchange only, and cash is what her ilks are after. So you are safe as long as if you stick to stand-alone boutiques :smile1:

Honestly though, I'm sure high end department stores e.g. NM, Saks, Bloomie's, etc. will be cracking down in terms of return policy after this anyway, especially with brands like Chanel... but I can also see rise in copycat crimes. There were SO many comments on news media articles calling her smart, giving her credit, how they should try it, people who spend 2k on handbag deserve to be ripped off...
Thank you so much for your response. I feel a lot more confident with my future purchases.

What about in Chanel Neiman Marcus? Cant you do a refund there? Just store credit?

Not really true. I was able to get a full refund the following day I returned the bag I purchased at Chanel Boutique. It was their fault. So maybe the scammer would just find something wrong and will demand a full refund. Still not safe either, sorry. I speak for my personal experience. Just to enlighten everyone that not at all times Chanel Boutique would just give store credit. They also give full refund.

After searching and searching i found an authenticator. I called for an appointment and brought the bag. After looking at the details of the bag and everything that came with it. Measuring, counting and doing a sensory evalutation in 45-1hr she said... I have the real macoy! She told me the things that i worry about are within parameters consistent with a series 20. Then she took out another series 20... and showed me. You ladies cant believe how much i was sweating waiting for a verdict and voila! the peace of mind ive been looking for. Thank you for the advice and posts. Really helped alot. Now i can actually start using my bag, and wear it with pride  NO TO FAUX!

Where did you found an authenticator?

I'm the op of this tread and since my initial scare I've only bought directly from Chanel. I just purchased my first boy and once I got it home I thought I got a fake. This speaks more to the lack of quality of the bag rather than its authenticity. But I thought I would add to the tread in that if Chanel quality continues to decline the counterfeiters will soon be making equal quality bags. Before this I had just purchased a WOC; comparing it to my sister's purchased a few years ago mine was flat and lifeless. There use to be something special about the quality of Chanel but now I feel everything looks like a fake. I hate to say it but I might be done. I thought I was out of the bag market for a while but I really wanted at least on boy. Maybe it will grow on me but it just doesn't feel that special. Don't get me wrong, I like the edgey style I just feel the quality sucks now. My So Black is a complete disaster and now the caviar on my new boy feels like plastic. Very disappointed.

Why do you feel your So Black is a disaster?

Why do you feel your So Black is a disaster?
The hardware on my So Black has chipped very badly and according to the forum I'm not the only one who's had this issue. As well, I like really puffy bags, just my personal preference, and my So Black has deflated. Additionally, the lambskin has not worn well at all. It looks old well before its time. I have caviar jumbos that are way older and still look brand new. Honestly, if I saw someone carrying my So Black I would think it's a fake. I killed myself trying to find the bag, I actually had to purchase it in the US (I'm Canadian) and pay way more in shipping, customs, and duty. Hardly seems worth the effort now.

That is so upsetting to hear.

You can't return your So Black but maybe you should return the boy since it's not making you happy.

Do you mind posting some photos? Was ur so black the 2011 edition?

Yes I think it is a 2011. I haven't used it in a while. I did try to see it but the consignment shop I trust said they should get less than a third of what I paid after their commission. It's my only lambskin Jumbo so I kept it. Maybe one day when I'm not so mad at it I'll start using it again. It's fitting that we're taking about this in a thread about fakes because to be honest that's what it looks like!

Oh no!!!!!! Did you bring this into Chanel?

Yes I did and I was told rather rudely that there was nothing they could do. I have never has a pleasant repair experience. I think it's a Toronto thing. We don't have that many chanel stores so the customer service doesn't have to be great.
I agree. I always get AMAZING service in the states. Canada...not so much. I am so sorry about your so black.

Thanks for the info! I own it in the jumbo and "baby it". However, my clasp has not chipped, it has worn from the oils in my fingers from constantly opening and closing it! I had a headsup on this type of hardware from ten years ago. I owned a Gucci wallet with the black hardware and I watched that wear. I guess my quilts will deflate, also. I am curbing my Chanel handbag purchases due to lack of quality control!
