Beware of the super fakes

"Regular store" was a bad term to use in this case.
I meant as in an independently owned store that sells, in this case, counterfeit items.

It is almost common knowledge in Toronto that a lot of pirated stuff especially fake brand name handbags are sold in downtown china town as well as at "Pacific Mall". I am quite certain that Chanel knows about the presence of these stores in Toronto. It is up to Chanel to send private investigators to these establishments. The thing too is that it is not just fake Chanels that these stores sell but also other brand name stuff like LV, Dior etc.

Yet the fact that not much is being done might mean that there is not much they can do. They can try to shut down a single store selling counterfeit stuff but then another one will spring up somewhere else.

I recall before in the past, stores at pacific mall were selling pirated Hollywood DVD's and the police raided those stores and shut them down. For a while it was quiet, but then I saw them spring up again at other stores lol.

I read in the paper that Pacific Mall was raided, or there was a crack down, because all those stores are gone.

Is this bag real? The zipper is a different color of the hardware. Thank you!!!

Would you be willing to pm me to share what made the bag fake? I haven't seen a super fake in person, so I can't even imagine how close they can be to the real thing. How scary. But I've also heard stories of bags being authenticated as fake by mistake when they were actually real. I know you used a reputable authentication service, but mistakes can happen. Did you ever get a second authentication just to be absolutely sure?

I was doing some research about the classic flap because this is my first Chanel purchase. As i was considering between getting a vintage or a new one, i came across some super fake Chanel for like $100 and it comes with everything like box, ribbon, authentic card and even the same white dust bag with Karl stretch of Coco Chanel on it. I got really turned off to buy a vintage online because this is my first and i wouldnt know how to tell between the authentic vs counterfeit ones online. It was very frustrating.

Unfortunately, I used an authentication service after the fact. I should have done it before I bought. I believe that the hologram sticker gave it away. The serial number was off for the style and make. It's a pretty definitive fake. The bag I bought came with a dust cover and authentication card too. That real didn't mean anything. They can fake all of the accompaniments as well. They are often better faked then the bag itself. It is becoming harder to tell. So for now I think I'm sticking to new bags only. I've decided I may want to try my first Hermes bag this year so I've started saving up. If I decide not not to buy a Birkin I'll be able to buy an awesome Chanel so either way I'm putting money aside.

Hi ladies, please be careful about discussing what makes a bag a fake. Remember that we could have lurkers on this forum and they can use what you find to make better and better fakes! Just leave it as it was a fake. No need to discuss it further. [emoji111]

A few years ago, I bought a Chanel bag at the Neiman Marcus Last Call in Woodbury NY. Until I tried to sell it, I had no idea it was a fake -- after all, it's Neiman's, right?! But on further inspection I realized it couldn't be real.

Still not sure how this could have happened :-( And I'm sure there's no recourse either. Live and learn I guess....

There's a current thread on the ebay forum on how this very thing happens.
Federal authorities arrested Ebay seller Richgirlscollection/Loukpeach

Thanks for this thread. I have learned so much. I have a question and please forgive me if it is a ridiculous question. After reading about these super fakes, I am hesitant to even shop for handbags in America. Should I just shop in Europe instead? I am a newbie and am looking to purchase my first Chanel and LV and am just so scared of the super fakes out there. I would only be shopping at the brand's boutique, not outlets/malls. It is all over threads and news about super fakes in America, but is it also a problem in Europe? Have there been any reports about super fakes being returned in Europe? As I haven't purchased a Chanel or LV, I have no idea what the process is to return a hand bag and would hope that they inspect and take your ID info down if you returned to a boutique, but like I said, I have no idea. Any info/articles/opinion would be much appreciated.

If you're only shopping at the boutique, you needn't worry.

^^^ This.

It did bother me when I saw LouKPeach's email to her supplier, she was obviously looking for quality fake Chanel to incorporate into her scam...

BUT scammers like her would NOT target Chanel boutiques since they do not give cash refunds, exchange only, and cash is what her ilks are after. So you are safe as long as if you stick to stand-alone boutiques :smile1:

Honestly though, I'm sure high end department stores e.g. NM, Saks, Bloomie's, etc. will be cracking down in terms of return policy after this anyway, especially with brands like Chanel... but I can also see rise in copycat crimes. There were SO many comments on news media articles calling her smart, giving her credit, how they should try it, people who spend 2k on handbag deserve to be ripped off...

Hii! Correct me if i am wrong cos I have been reading snippets here and there. She buys a real bag, and the same one in super fake quality. Then she bring's the super fake one for returns and exchanges for a real one. So she ends up with 2 real bags? Did she do something like that?

Guess I am concerned that even SAs at boutiques itself may not even be that well trained in authenticating bags[emoji37]

No. Go to the link above and read the news article. It explains very clearly. Basically she buys bags, returns fakes then gets cash refunds. Real bags she sold on eBay/Insta, etc. Though she also sold fakes, but I won't confuse you any further right now.

But you are right. Many SAs are not trained at authenticating bags. It just so happens that Chanel boutiques do not allow cash refunds, neither do most stand-alone boutiques, so she targeted department stores where return policy is much more lenient.
