Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

I was just thinking, I wish they could do that at Macy's and other Dept. stores. My friends mom works at Macy's and they just marked down a TON of Coach shoes. Well, before she started her shift and could snag some in my size a lady came in and bought over $2000 worth of shoes to sell on eBay. I guess she does this all the time! How does she know when they are going to do a markdown. She must have an inside source.

Yah I heard about this also. When I use to buy a lot from Dooney & Bourke outlet I was told by an associate that if I was reselling it on eBay I should start paying in cash so the company doesn't black list me from buying. I eventually got board with Dooney & stopped selling it on eBay. But I did hear the same was true for Coach.

If you bought the items legitimately (from outlets) I don't see how they could "ban" you. They chose the price to sell at the Outlet - if they didn't want the items to be sold at a profit, they shouldn't sell them at a lower price!!

What you do with YOUR purchase after you've bought it is up to you...if you want to give it as a gift - great, wear it - fine. Sell it - if you want to. Personally I've never bought an item to sell specifically on Evilbay but for some people who may not be able to work full time (have a young family, disabled etc) who have their "internet business", why shouldn't they sell these items..afterall, they didn't STEAL them but paid the EXACT amount the shop charged!!

They can ban you. In fact, they can refuse service to whoever they want. They see it as diluting the brand or some mumbo jumbo. Or, the other shoppers complain. THEY want to buy the items too, kind of hard when one person swoops in and buys them all. But thats neither here nor there. As far as dept stores go, they don't mind. End of season clearance sales roll around and the ebay resellers will call the store up and say "Give me whatever of XX (not Coach) you have in stock" and viola, it's an $8,000 sale and all that left over stock is gone. It's a win win for the dept stores.

Ironic that they see this as "diluting the brand" when they are now using cheaper materials on some bags and have more quality control issues and they are taking such a huge risk creating a lower-priced line. As a someone with a strong marketing background, I can say they are a case study for what you can do to screw up a solid brand after 67 years.

she hasnt logged on in over a year =(

oh ok. well i think she might be the only one on tpf who got the letter. not sure if anyone on here actually got it. i doubt anyone else who got the letter would be on here anyway. that would be embarassing getting banned from a store.
