Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

I think if you are buying mass amounts of things or returning a large number of items without receipts (e.g. buying on ebay nwt and returning to store for full price) those sorts of things would get you flagged. I would think if you have the receipts for the majority of your purchases it wouldn't be held against you as a buyer.

I end up returning a lot of things, but that is only because I buy first and think later (lol whoops). I don't buy stuff for the intent to resell, ever. I only sell items I have already used and will not use again in the future (to make way for new stuff in the collection). Do you think it is only items without receipts that are flagged or what is the actual deal? Does anyone know? I don't want to get flagged for doing something that is part of my normal buying personality. I would hate to get banned because I am a shopping flake. :crybaby:

Me also!! I would buy, b/c it was such anawesome deal... and I am a very big shopaholic. Well then I would run out of money... lol!! I had to return some of the stuff... I was such a crazy shopper. lol!!
I spent maybe $1500.00 total (tax refund money) in a span of 2-3 monthes.... I do not think that is a lot!!
I will try to get the pic of the letter uploaded!

Wow even though that is a lot of money, that doesn't seem like nearly enough to get "the letter". Crazy.
May I ask if you know what exactly prompted the letter, i.e. did you return a large amount of items without receipts or buy 10 of the same item or what happened exactly?

No none of that.... I always had the reciept! I never bought 10 of the same item. I know sometimes I would see a great deal, pick it up. Then the next time I was in there.... There would be another one (exactly the same thing) that had gotten returned. I am a big bargin shopper... I got one of their flap purses, that had been returned... I got it for $40.00. How can you not buy it!! I still have it... trying to decide who to give it to. Most of my christmas shopping is done. I have given coach purses to my sisters for their birthday!! A $400.00 purse... that I pd $89.00 for!

here is what the letter says.....

Dear Mrs XX XXXXXXXX:
The volume of your purchases along with your habit of buying duplicate items suggests that you are purchasing Coach product for resale. While we appreciate your enthusiasm for the Coach brand and your entrepreneurial spirit, we must advise you that no one is authorized by Coach to resell product purchased from our stores, website or accounts.

As you know, the Coach brand is synonymous with quality and excellence and Coach applies consistently high standards to its products, its consumer services and its distribution channels. To maintain these standards, Coach limits distribution beyond our own stores and our internet site to a select group who are carefully chosen for their capability and willingness to provide the resources to drive the sale of Coach product in an image-enhancing manner.

As the manufacturer of Coach brand products, we are responsible for positioning our brand and supporting the attributes that Coach believes are important to maintaining and developing consumer relationships. We believe that unauthorized distributors and retailers lack commitment to the Coach product, lack the capital investment required and, possibly, lack other criteria that are very important to the Coach brand.

Please be advised; we have notified our stores and distribution center of this matter. They have been advised that you are no longer authorized to purchase our products. I would also like to point out that we will not be able to sell to anyone who we believe is acting on your behalf.

Sincerely,

MJ Finlay

That's crazy. Were your purchases single items or did you buy multiples of the same items? I am wondering if their issue with you was the purchases or the returns. Did the letter state?

I was pulled aside and given the letter... I had no idea that Coach even had a limit.
They have a 3 limit rule, none of the SA even told me this.

The lady the I called about it... said it was b/c the limit and I went over.

I was soooo mad!!! B/c I didn't even do anything wrong!!
And now coach doesn't want my money... I guess!!!

Now I am just trying to deal with it..... I LOVE COACH & I get sooooo sad now! I can walk to my outlet and knowing I can never shop there again... I dunno... It's really upsetting to me!

I went in there about a week ago... to ask for advise.... on how to clean my purse.
She asked if I had the coach fabric cleaner, I don't!!
I asked if my BF could come in and get it for me and she said yes!!
It's just really upsetting!! I want a Coach purse for christmas & now not even sure I can get that!!

I always purchased single items! except on one ocassion.. I bought 4 keyfobs! I think that was the only time!

The lady from corp. said that maybe in 6 monthes... I can shop again! I should call her in 6 monthes!
Do you even think it's worth it?

So do you think the purchase you got banned for was the 4 keyfobs? Wow that seems so silly to me actually. Those are usually very reasonably priced and I could totally see picking a few up to give as gifts. Ugh. This freaks me out a little. I am so sorry it happened to you. I would be devastated as well, oh and pretty P!SSED too.

Yeah I know!! It really sucks! I get knots in my stomach even thinking about it!!
But really what can I do!?? ya knoW!!

This is horrible if they are so worried about *bay resellers instead of banning immediatly give the person the ultimatum .... give us your *bay ID and prove u r not reselling or we will ban you. that way non resellers don't get banned for the actions of others, not that reselling on *bay is bad, but you KWIM. I buy me & DD matchy stuff all the time, I guess I should be glad I only have 1 DD I might get banned for buying my kids stuff!!!

I don't know what I would do regarding contacting them again in six months. I am a pretty stubborn person and if I was never advised of any "purchase rules" and then I was served up a nasty letter like this, I would probably never buy the product ever again. It's just the principle of it. You can't slap someones hand for doing something that they were never advised was wrong or against the rules. If what you say is true and accurate, that you only once bought 4 keyfobs and were never apprised of any buying limit, then I would be pretty livid. I would immediately return everything I had ever gotten from them and show them the finger on the way out.

this is not fair. I know a store by my aunts house its a little boutique and the lady buys everything overstock from like macys, lord and taylors, and she sells them. She also has coach shoes and bags for sale, which I thought was not allowed b/c she is not an authorized coach retailer. But they let things like that slip thru the cracks?!?!
