Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

OMG - I can't believe this has happened to another one of us! As you recall, I also got the "letter" last July even though I had NEVER sold a thing. The only thing I was guilty of was being a Coach shopaholic with a lot of money to spend. And like you, I also have a "purse room" filled to the brim. But, I guess good customers like us are too much for Coach to handle. I am SO sorry you are going through this!

First of all, yes I did try to call Coach LP many many many times and each time I left a very professional voice mail but they NEVER returned my calls. So, I don't know if calling them is going to help or not since it did nothing for me. I got the feeling that corp really doesn't care what you have to say, once they give a letter they just want to be done with you. Second of all, the sa's and managers at my outlet knew for certain I wasn't a reseller and also tried getting LP to contact me by emailing them and still nothing. They really wanted LP to know that they had made a big mistake and need to look at this process differently even if just for future reference. My fp sa's and manager also said they knew I wasn't a reseller and felt so bad for me.

As for returns, I would bring them all in at once. Why make yourself go back again? Although it doesn't matter if you come back again and try to return more. As far as I know, they can't ban you from returning with receipt. You purchased all of these items while you had the right to return them anytime you want. I was also told numerous times that I could return anything I wanted anytime I wanted after I received the ban letter. And believe me I have returned a ton to them since. I even returned a NWT fp item just last weekend that I had purchased a year ago and had absolutely no problem at all with it. If I wasn't banned I probably would have just kept it due to the time frame, but since they don't care about me why should I care about them? It was an SA I hadn't seen before and he asked me if I wanted to look around and get something else so I told about my letter I received and that I couldn't. He just rolled his eyes, shook his head, and looked at me with such sympathy like it's so ridiculous that Coach did that to me. He even told me to come back anytime to visit and look around. I also want to add that I have had 2 bags that had quality issues after owning them for more than a year (but only using a few times) so I brought them into fp hoping they would send them in for me but instead they let me pick out new merchandise totalling the original msrp right on the spot. So, yes, you still have your guarantee coverage. I know that was a big issue for me that I was wondering about when I got banned.

Again, I am SO sorry this has happened to you and can't believe how stupid this is. If you want to talk more, PM me. Or else I'll message you more tonight after work. Take care hon!

Ok, I read more of the comments and questions and have a few more things to add. ;)

From what I have heard from 2 sa's, the probable reason for my banning was that I just spent too much money and it looks to be that might be what happened to you too. It was explained that there is some kind of dollar limit and once you hit it during a certain time frame, that's it they ban you. And like you I also spent a lot more that last year due to an inheritance. So, I also had tens of thousands in purchases in one year and I'm betting that was why we both got banned.

Also, they said my letter was faxed from corp to my local stores. I actually found out about it by accident since I called the outlet to put something on a charge hold. Then it took less than 2 weeks (probably closer to 1) to recieve the actual letter in the mail. But, it's my understanding that the letters are generated from corp lp.

Thanks so much for sharing your 'aftermath' experience and commiserating with me Codegirl !! As another poster intimated, based on the way the letter was instantaneously handed out to me with yesterday's date on it (and unsigned by the Coach Corp. LP person), I do feel like perhaps this just came from the Store Mgr. and not Corporate, but who knows. We have always been cordial w/ one another, and I never did anything to anger this particular Mgr. or done anything for her to 'single' me out, but one can never tell who their enemies are sometimes, you know?
I did feel really bad for the SA last night who was 'stuck' in the middle of the situation....She kept mouthing "I'm so sorry" to me, I almost felt worse for her, than I did for myself!!
I did just spend my lunch hour composing a letter that I plan on sending by certified mail to Coach Loss Prevention Dept, if for nothing else, to vent. I do NOT expect to receive a response, and will be totally shocked if I do. In a nutshell, I said I do not care if I can never purchase their products again, but feel I am owed an apology for being falsely accused of being a reseller, along/ w/ giving them my E-Bay and Bonanza account IDs, so that they can see for themselves I've never sold anything.....but as you said, I'm sure they care less (but it made me feel a little better after I'd finished writing it! :p)

I'm now curious- do you/anyone else know if this ban extends to Dept. stores that carry Coach? Also, what about the Reed Krakoff line, is that considered part of Coach and am I banned from buying Reed too (not that I have or particularly want to, just wondering)?

I do have the email of the DM of our area, if you want to fire an email to him too.

If you were to buy at a RK store self-standing it's possible, but I know if you buy at our local S5A they have a RK section and unless you are banned from Saks you would be a welcome shopper.

The ban does not extend to dept stores that carry Coach. Macy's is my new best friend, lol! And they LOVE me!
Also, I must add that I've been getting better deals there than what I would have at the outlet now that deletes just go to 30% off. :p
(yes, I do still have a weakness for gettting a Coach fix now and then)

I'm so sorry this happened. I know someone who also got that same letter from corporate last year. She was also a frequent shopper/collector who had never sold anything. I told her back then to take back all her NWT stuff as she probably has at least 50 NWT items accumulated over the years but I think she hasn't yet because she doesn't want to spend time matching up all the receipts.

It's so stupid that Coach is banning some of their best customers in trying to stop resellers. The real resellers are just becoming more resourceful and still getting merchandise anyway.

That's my problem too~In my anger last night, I pulled out and laid out on the bed all the stuff I want to return, but I know just going through all my receipts to find/match everything up is going to be a nightmare....I'm kind of rushing myself too because I'm getting ready to go on vacation and was hoping to be done w/ this before I go but not sure I'm going to be able to get the returns done now before I leave and in the back of my mind, I keep thinking they're going to now 'refund' ban me as well.

Exactly- What I found so ironic last night was that while I was waiting in line an OBVIOUS reseller was up at the counter checking out.... and then lo and behold she gets ignored and I get accused!

Thanks for the offer-doubt it will do any good, but if you think he might be able to provide more insight, I'll give it a try.

I personally would not give them ebay/bonanza info. It's just more info by which they could track you and really, it's none of their business.

Do they mark your account, so they can keep track of it? Seems odd to me they can just hand you a letter and ban you. I am surprised some people don't get really upset with them. I live 15min from an outlet mall and go almost every Saturday morning and walk around, now I am worried they think I might be buying to resell. And I don't. I can't stand dealing with eBay, I tried selling some other stuff on their and it was a hassle.

I do the same thing (I live about 10 minutes from my outlet) and I am concerned about this too! I dont always buy things, I just genuinely have a love for the brand and I like to go in and check out their deletes especially. I dont want them to think I am a reseller or anything like that!

So sorry to hear of this, it's just not right. They are punishing loyal customers, I really hope Coach corp reads this board. I buy a lot and I do return alot, seems I should be waiting for my letter to arrive someday as well.

I am wondering if this is outlet specific, does anybody know? I haven't read this whole thread but most of the cases seem to stem from outlet shopping so I was wondering if anybody who soley shopped FP boutiques have gotten the BS letter.

OP I am very sorry for you. How unfortunate, and embarrassing it must have been for you! As I mentioned a couple posts above, I am in my outlet almost weekly, but I dont always buy anything, so I am afraid this will happen to me too. I agree with everyone else on here, I am glad you are going to return everything at once. This way everyone can see how much you "resold". I know you said you have a good relationship with your SA's and store manager, but I agree with what someone said a few posts back- take a pic/ video of everything you are returning and send it with your letter! haha. I dont think its right what they are doing here, and I cant tell you how many resellers I have seen walking around my outlet with 10 bags on their arms (not even exaggerating!), and they check out with no problem. Its just unfortunate what they are doing to their loyal customers.

OMG....I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just returned a bag that was DEFECTIVE (a Sage) and one that was too small. Now that I've stopped buying for resale, I'll probably be banned. THAT would be ironic!!!!!!!
