Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

Just do one big return. Also, I'd write a letter of complaint to corporate. But don't expect a response-I once received EXTREMELY rude service at a Coach outlet (the rudest and most unhelpful SA ever), and I wrote an email of complaint to the district manager. Never received a response. Made me think less of them.

I'm flabbergasted!

Have you done a lot of returning without receipts or something?
What in the world could make them think that you are a reseller? It seems like their darn letters never get sent to the right people!

If I were you, I would also call corporate and ask them to explain why you were banned? What reasons do they have to believe that you are a reseller?

I think you should return it all at one time and make them work for it!

That are a lot of other nice bags out there besides Coach, you should become a reseller and get rid of all your bags and find a new brand! :wtf:

While I must admit, I do a lot of returning (I'm one of those boutique PCE purchasers who sit on my purchases unused/NWT and if I later find it at the outlet, I'll buy it there and then return the boutique purchase) but I've never done a single return in 3+ yrs. without a receipt. I'm meticulous about keeping my receipts.
That's what has me so floored about all this. When I saw the Manager approaching me w/ a letter I automatically assumed it was one of those "no more return" letters and I actually wouldn't have been surprised about getting that but the no more purchasing letter really through me for a loop.

I have no idea why they would think I'm a reseller.....I never ask for gift receipts, boxes, for the items to be wrapped, none of the things that would prompt me to think I was a reseller. It's really frustrating to be mis-labeled that's for sure!!!

WOW!! CAA - I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would return everything in one swoop. I agree with the poster that suggested that you have the correct cc for each receipt. At least the # of returns may convince them indeed you are not a reseller. Then go and treat yourself to something really stunning with your refund.

I would also write to HQ and vent your frustration. You may not get a response, but at least you will get it off your chest. It's time they provided proof of their accusations prior to accusing people of reselling.

Is this just a generic letter or does it actually have your name on it? Last year at one of the outlet, they have a stack of generic letter with no specific name and was just handing them out to whomever bought a lot. I am just curious!

i would definately still want to get things off my chest to someone in corporate even though at this point i'd just be too p'o'd to want to buy more from them.

one mass return. i would be too annoyed each and every time i had to walk in there and see something great i'd like to buy but CAN'T. i'm sorry you got the letter. i love my coach bags and the bargains at the outlet, but the whole game they have set up has created the reseller market.

Do they mark your account, so they can keep track of it? Seems odd to me they can just hand you a letter and ban you. I am surprised some people don't get really upset with them. I live 15min from an outlet mall and go almost every Saturday morning and walk around, now I am worried they think I might be buying to resell. And I don't. I can't stand dealing with eBay, I tried selling some other stuff on their and it was a hassle.

It does seem like they don't really do their investigating before handing out these letters. I would think the only way they should assume you to be a reseller is if you have a history of continuously purchasing multiple of the same products over and over. Honestly, I have never heard of a company that actually wants people to NOT buy their products. If reselling is truly the problem they should be working on busting people on ebay. I realize that a seller's identity is protected, but reselling is illegal so you'd think Coach would have some kind of power in that situation. Like maybe they could make some way to tell where an outlet sale came from by the tag and use that to track down the reseller. I don't know what else they can do, but the system they are using now is most certainly unfair and not really working since there are outlet purchases all over ebay. Also, why not make outlet sales available to everyone even if they only last a few days. Then people are less likely to buy MFF stuff off ebay for a jacked up price.

Unbelievable!!! :wtf: I would return every freaking item at once - I don't care how long it takes them to process it! And even though you may not receive a response, I think you should send a letter to corporate - you need to vent!:rtr:

Yikes, if this can happen to you, it can happen to any of us. They clearly do give these out without evidence of reselling. Do the letters originate at the corporate level or within the Factory Store? It puzzles me why they don't first give a warning letter before a ban letter. The number of resellers they catch off-guard by "the letter" isn't worth alienating the number of loyal, non-reselling customers that they seem to be mistakenly giving these ban letters to. Coach is a "happy habit" that I enjoy collecting and giving as gifts; however, now I'm worried that I could one day get "the letter." A warning letter about things that they have an issue with that could lead up to the ban letter would be a better way of retaining a loyal customer.

OMGosh! This is just insane! They create a bunch of Coach addicts by coming out with new bags every month and then they penalize you if you shop too often?? They take current merchandise out of the store after a couple of months and send it directly to the outlets and they don't think that we will be stalking the bargains?? It is not unusual to want to buy a few multiples on a given occasion. If they have a problem with that, they should have said something to you at the time of purchase or they should impose a limit right then and there. They have the right to say you can only buy one or two of a given product. I would return everything in one giant dump at the register and make sure they know why it's being brought back.

For the most impact and to really make them work, definitely one BIG RETURN and follow it up with a nasty letter to corporate with a picture of all your returns.

I totally agree. Returning a lot of items at once will lend even more credence to the fact that you are NOT a re-seller. Whoever sends out the ban letters needs to see pics of everything that you returned due to their mistake!
