Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

^^ That's true, but they do get incentives. Some of them are quite competitive too. There is a woman at one of the outlets I go to that drives me NUTS, and I don't ever shop with her...never have. In fact, I run in the opposite direction, lol!

^^ Sometimes it happens because someone has turned you in specifically as being a seller. Most of us on the forum are in no danger, even with a lot of returns and purchases and selling our items here and there... but we do have Ebay sellers who frequent the boards specifically to read/find out all the outlet stock and deals. You can notice this based on what they post, etc., and they may or may not be at risk. Once Coach and Ebay are able to tie the person to a specific transaction history and ebay account, then they can ban you. It can also be that a competitor reports you...this happened to someone I know, and she wasn't banned exactly because it wasn't 100% obvious she was an excessive power seller (and worked for a dept store, not Coach), but Ebay gave her a hard time. I was surprised to read her list of everything they had done to "discourage" her from selling over a one year period. She kept on fighting it, though, and is still in business.

I do know of another person that this happened to, and this guy drove from one outlet to another one and dropped $5-10k at a time. That was easily tracked because it raised an immediate red flag with Coach. He was pretty quickly banned.

In other cases, it can simply be you're reported by someone, and then they "watch" you till they can act. Honestly, I personally dislike selling Coach just from the fraud potential. For the most part, any problem I've had has been connected to Coach auctions. I would rather sell other brands that have a good market but less potential for fraudulent activity. It's worrisome to sell on Ebay period, especially now that sellers are left high and dry!!

wow.. thank you for that.. i don't sell a lot of stuff on ebay, only bags i purchase, already used and don't work for me.

I buy coach like crazy, because i love them!! The bags i don't use that will not work for me i exchange them.

This morning i was talking with my DH mentioned , "How does anyone make $$ on ebay" between the fees, PP Fees, i think PP even charges higher shipping rates.. (i just did a comparison, using PP shipping label & going directly to USPS & UPS, was $10 more on PP).... making a profit.. can't see it. it's something im not into and never will be.

im just a bag Ho... :graucho:

i have never made a profit on a bag, (is that allow to say on this forum?). i just end up buying a bag that doesn't work for me after using it i can't return it. so i sell it. and normally just take the loss. and its usually between $100 up. i just suck it up. at least someone else can enjoy the bag. its not a business for me. i wish i could keep them all. just not enough room in our tiny apartment.

I am a coach SA and we have associates who compete against each other, but they are not rewarded for having the day's high sales or any sort of commission. Coach encourages its sales associates to work as a team to satisfy a clients needs.

^^ I didn't mean that hon about day's high sales, but I do know about certain incentives/bonuses because I have a friend that's a SA who got them. I don't work for Coach myself.

^^ I know you guys have been asked that question up and down here on the boards, and we definitely want to make it very clear there's no commission. I meant to be vague otherwise because i know it's against company policy to share the specific details, and I want to respect that... but I ended up not making sense (which happens many times with me, lol!). Sorry!

since when can a store ban you from shopping or buying their items. if you have to many returns or have been caught shoplifting..

I know this for a fact - yes - you can be banned from any store. In fact if you are caught shoplifting or breaking any other mall polices you can be banned from entering a mall for life or a duration of time (like 1 yr.) depending on what you were caught doing. Most people don't realize a mall is private property and owned by a company who has the right to restrict access. Stores in the mall lease that space and also have that right to refuse service to anyone.

They send letters to the customer and all of the surrounding stores, it just baffles me that they have the balls to go back! We had a customer banned from returning w/o a receipt and low and behold she came back to return- without a receipt!!! She knew what she was doing too.

I think being banned wouldn't be as awful as we think...Coach is so widely available-Macy's, Lord & Taylor, etc...that one could just go there to buy it. I think the ONLY disadvantage would be not being able to special order stuff from JAX...just MHO...
*hugs*

Is it the individual store that recommends you to be banned or is it somehow flagged in the system and corporate sends you a letter?

Just wondering, 'cuz I have a return to make at the outlet and since I've read about this letter I've decided to try to sell first before I return it. But if I can't sell it, I will HAVE to return it.

I think there's too much paranoia going around about this subject. If you have your receipts and your bag has tags on and is unused, you don't have to worry. If you return frequently w/out receipts that may be a problem. If you return used, etc...but Coach has a very lenient policy. You can return w/receipts tags on unused items. Don't be paranoid about that. You can change your mind. That's what it's all about!!;)

^^^

This thread is four months old, for the record, but I agree with CC. People getting banned are buying massive quantities and/or doing repeated shady business with returns. Whether there are true innocent victims, which I suspect is a dubious claim, you aren't going to get banned for changing your mind once in a while.

Additionally, marcinthemiddle is right. If you were to hypothetically get banned and you are just a personal collector, you could still find ways to purchase. Bans are a threat to people who are buying huge quantities at the outlet, not people who want to buy a Sabrina from Dillards. They're not to discourage people from collecting Coach, they're to prevent large-scale reselling or manipulation of the system.

Of course I am just being paranoid, I admit. I have probably made about 10-15 returns in perhaps the last 3-4 years. I would just hate to get the letter (scary voice).

There are other places to get Coach, true, but aren't most of the TDF bags at the boutique?

I'm just curious about how they choose who was banned.
