I actually think I've ALMOST been banned at Anthro years ago, like 2011. I was living in NYC and worked across the street from the Chelsea Market Anthro. I bought everything on sale as well because everything went on sale within like a month! It would have been stupid to buy full price. Anyway, I used my Anthro card for my purchases but I'd also return a good amount. They were all new and unworn, but I remember they were rude about it and never seemed happy. I stopped shopping there for a long time and never use my Anthro card anymore. I just purchased a mug and candle online on cyber Monday but it hasn't even be shipped yet, so I wonder if I was banned?

How did they let you know you were banned? I actually think Urban Outfitters/Anthro/Free People is a bad company with overpriced clothes, but I do like the candles and home stuff.

They never outright told me. I put two and two together after i saw that my order was cancelled but the items were still in stock. When i emailed cs asking them why, they told me about the order history issue. I messaged back for further clarification, but i have yet to hear back. Not holding my breath. I went in an anthro store yesterday and i could barely stomach being in there. The whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth.

I agree that the Anthropologie card absolutely sucks. I never carry it around with me anymore and I get annoyed when they kept asking me about it. From now on, I'm never going to tell them my phone number when I make a purchase. I returned quite a few items in the past but so far, I haven't been banned yet. I did sign up for the Urban Outfitters app which has this barcode that Sales Associates can scan on checkout. I wonder if this is used to track a customer's purchase/return, too?

But unlike the Anthro card, at least the UO app does give a few nice perks. Like giving App users an opportunity to shop 50% off clearance a few days early, and $5 off a purchase, free shipping no minimum, etc. The Anthro card is a piece of garbage and 15% off is nothing considering the prices of their products. At least UO's clearance clothes are reasonably priced and when stacked with the 50% off, it gets so cheap! I never shop at Anthropologie anymore after I found my newfound love for UO. <3

I still love Free People, but I only buy their clothes on clearance at my local Macy's, and at discounted clothing stores like Nordstrom Rack and Marshall's. I've been to their boutiques and their "clearance" sucks compared to the department stores. Not to mention FP online customer service is horrendous. Never again.

I wonder how much returns is deemed "unreasonable" by Saks? I just returned a $2K item (my first time) two weeks ago because I decided to get another color (which I got from them too) and now I'm contemplating on returning another item (approx $900). So that's two big returns in less in a month. I'm tempted to just keep it because I don't want to get banned but at the same time that's still a lot of money and I'd rather spend that on something else.

Truthfully, how can they ban you-just pay cash or use another credit card that is not a Saks card...;)

I don't think those are very high dollar amounts to return at Saks. Much of their products are very high priced. A $900 return is probably ordinary.

btw.. the USA is one of the only countries in the world where returns are even allowed.

as I've mentioned, I've worked in retail.. some people really know how to milk the system and really abuse the policies... but I agree that MOST people do not overdo it.

This is SO TRUE!!! This is why I sort of laugh at American Ebay sellers who
don't like to ship overseas.
I know that in Europe, there is no such thing as Wardrobe'ing ...
where a person buys clothing to wear and then return.
This is unheard of in most of Europe.
Yet, MOST of the ebay sellers I know have had to deal with this a few times.

I have lived in Sweden for 8 years, and I think I have returned one thing.
a Biotherm skin care set, it made me break out so bad, that I ended up
with a scar on my face from it.

Just how frequent are returns before you get banned online? I have done 5 returns though. Am I at risk of being banned?

Five returns from the same store? I think it would depend on how close together those returns were and how many other things you have purchased from the store. If you place thirty orders a year with a store and have returned five times total over the course of...let's say three years...I'm sure you are safe. Now if you have only returned anything you have ever purchased from a place, then it might be a different story.

I also return alot, but I buy alot. I subscribe to the theory that I better get it now and that it's better to return...

Seems it would be a problem if you return more than you buy.

There should be more lenience with online purchases. Things can look/fit way differently than described. As long as you're not consistently making big purchases and returning long after you receive the item it should be fine.

Neiman Marcus sent me a warning letter saying that I can't make anymore returns or they will possibly ban me from having my Neiman Marcus credit card. I 99% of the time always have a receipt but I guess it doesn't matter. Only two times I didn't. A lot of times I buy things online and then when I put them on I change my mind.
