Did you know they were owned by Macys?

Whenever I have a problem with a store, I do a little research to see what other stores are owned by the same company.

EDIT: Just did a little more research. Macy's owns a lot of stores I used to love to shop at. :shrugs: Maybe there are not so many choices after all (except online).

Yes, I am aware of their ownership. I don't shop Macy's either.

I am an older gal, and I remember May Company, Bullocks, etc department stores. Many of them went out of business or had to re-invent themselves. I remember when Nordstrom actually had wonderful customer service lol! Things sure have changed over the decades... It is getting harder and harder to find good customer service, but I still feel I have a multitude of choices (especially online as you mentioned).

I have made one and only one return to Bloomies (bought 1 piece of clothing online and returned it in the store because it did not fit right), and they treated me very, very poorly. They made me stand there while they made multiple phone calls and referred to me on the phone as if I were not standing there right in front of them at the Customer Service desk. I just won't shop with them anymore. I think they forget that, as consumers, we have many choices.

I'm not near a Bloomies so I tend to buy online, but what I dislike about Bloomies is the price-changing games. If you keep an eye on an item you're interested in, and if it's on sale, be careful, because they raise the prices on the weekends (when they presume people are shopping more). I got cheated a couple times that way.

I hate when retailers do this. Price changing games make me think that they feel that most consumers are ill-informed, impulsive, and even stupid (and perhaps there are many that are?). I buy a lot of food products from Omaha Steaks. You really have to be very careful about their pricing. When they have a free shipping offer, they just boost the price of the food to compensate for the shipping cost. It is really annoying! You have to watch these retailers so carefully... :oh:

ITA! they must think we are kind of stupid to play all these games...I'm always a little hesitant when a coupon code or special offer come in for various stores - I make sure to check out the prices first. A lot of times, I'll write down the prices of a few things I'm interested in, and when a coupon code is released, a lot of times that price will have gone up. Drives me nuts!

Bloomies is a master at that in May I purchased a marc by marc jacobs leather jacket on sale for $480 it kept going down on the price until the end of june where it was $150. Since it was still hanging in my closet with the tags I returned and re bought it. Their customer service leaves ALOT to be desired. From the people at the credit services to the SA's. I am going on a trip in November and a few days decided to finally invest on a Burberry jacket, I called and spoke to a SA and he told to come in to the store. When I got there he was at lunch and the SA on the floor refused to help me because I had mentioned his name. I waited for 40 minutes until he got bag from lunch. NO ONE helped me at all. The only reason I went there and not the Burberry store was because I had 15% off coupon, I got the jacket but I was pissed off.

I am so sorry you went through this. If something like this ever occurs again, go the office of the Store Manager and complain. They will fix the situation immediately. No customer should ever have to wait while some SA is at lunch.

Macys used to be such a great place to get bargains when it was a One Day Sale, because you could always use the coupons with your purchase. Now, they play the game of being a "Deal of the Day' and you're not allowed to use the coupons from the paper on anything. It's such a game, and they really must think that we're idiots....

Wow, that's so rude...the one thing we all assume when going into a store is getting service ASAP (sometimes, the service is a little annoying/people coming up to you when you want to browse, etc.) but no one coming by in 40 mins is pretty bad!

^seriously. That sounds like some bs not related to the customer-whether that's commission based or interpersonal bs they had going on. I would have asked for their manager and then escalated to store manager if needed to get on with my day. It's not like you were asking for a lot to be done.

There is a facebook fan site for bullock's called bullock's department store memories. People also reminiscence about May stores and Nordstrom from back in the day. You like it. Folks post amazing old photos of the stores.

Has anyone been banned from Chanel for repairs? I had about 25 repairs I made and paid for (Around $700) and received a letter in the mail stating I will no longer be able to have repairs done there nor will I be allowed to shop there.

Ive been banned from anthropologie because of my "order history," even though i rarely purchase online. I go to a b&m store 90% of the time. Up until black friday, i hadnt placed an online order since 2012. I am afraid to call customer service about it because i dont want to get told off or get someone who is going to tell me something mean. I am beyond embarassed and i am totally confused as to why i would get banned. The only thing i can think of that i do in their store that would annoy them is that i buy everything- literally everything- on sale.

Their anthro card gives no perks whatsoever, aside from a 15% bday coupon, and is used to track their customers purchases and returns. Of course i knew that when i signed up, but i had no idea that they could take purchasing power away from a loyal and frequent customer simply because im not buying their full priced items. All the years i worked in retail i had to take back used items, smelly items, items that the customers claimed were new with tags, that clearly werent. I saw clear instances of large returns tht were likely failed online sales, and nothing was done. And i, the honest customer, gets punished for doi something wrong...and im not even sure what i did wrong!!

So sorry for the rant, but i am really shaken up and humiliated, and i needec to vent!!!! Thanks for reading!!

Wow, I'm so sorry. I hope that's a mistake-sounds ridiculous! Even if it was because you buy items on sale, if they didn't like that, then quit putting things on sale Ya know? They have great sales, I've never bought anything full price there either.

I guess I'd be considered a frequent returner.....sometimes I do an exchange, and do not get a refund. I've never had a problem with Saks, Von Maur, or Nordstroms, Macy's or any other department store that I can think of.
But I'm not afraid of returning if it's something that doesn't fit, wrong color or size, or just not what I truly needed at the time. In fact, I recently ordered two Burberry sweatshirts at Nordstroms, different sizes, to be sure I had the right size. When I returned the one that was a bit too large, the sales lady said, don't worry, if your sweatshirt shrinks after you wash it, just return it, no problems!
Some stores have a rather lenient return policy, while others get crazy over it, demanding receipts, reasons why you did not want it, etc.

I actually think I've ALMOST been banned at Anthro years ago, like 2011. I was living in NYC and worked across the street from the Chelsea Market Anthro. I bought everything on sale as well because everything went on sale within like a month! It would have been stupid to buy full price. Anyway, I used my Anthro card for my purchases but I'd also return a good amount. They were all new and unworn, but I remember they were rude about it and never seemed happy. I stopped shopping there for a long time and never use my Anthro card anymore. I just purchased a mug and candle online on cyber Monday but it hasn't even be shipped yet, so I wonder if I was banned?

How did they let you know you were banned? I actually think Urban Outfitters/Anthro/Free People is a bad company with overpriced clothes, but I do like the candles and home stuff.
