I asked to return a pair of earrings that arrived damaged and previously returned makeup that arrived broken or leaked in the packaging and this is the email macy’s sent (and no I didn’t report the package as missing):

Thank you for your email about order xx.

I understand that you would like to have a resolution regarding your order.

The letter you have received is just a concern that in the past months, you have had several issues of not receiving your order. If the issue of not receiving your order continues, unfortunately, it is a business decision of ours to limit your shopping to just in the stores.

If the reason that you are not able to receive the order is because it is being stolen or your location is not safe for your packages; please set up a different address where you can secure the package being delivered. Also, you may file for a police report for any stolen issues you've had with your package.

We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.

If you have any further questions, please e-mail us at [email protected] or call us at 1-800-289-6229. We're here 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.

Thank you,

Wow- Thanks for sharing this.
I'm somewhat irritated by this response from Macy's.

I buy lots of stuff from Nordstrom, and occasionally they use Fedex delivery to my bldg in San Francisco. Apparently Fedex uses subcontractors to deliver - and they don't have a key to my bldg (unlike UPS and USPS). Fedex constantly leaves packages on what they refer to as my "porch". I don't have a porch, it is a bldg facade on a busy street with lots of traffic and sometimes homeless people camping there. Last week a box was stolen, and Nordstrom sent a replacement which I got yesterday, again it was sitting right in the front of the bldg perched at the side. Fortunately this time I was home and could get it.

Macy's is blaming YOU for this sort of thing. I wonder if Nordstrom is also blaming me.
