I feel like I’m the lone ghost haunting the prison at Alcatraz here on Ban Island. Who’s ready to get serious about no buying in 2025? If we have enough people, I’ll start a new thread and we can make it happen!
I'm going to try my best. No more buying on a whim but a thoughtful, planned out purchase once or twice in 2025 would be a total win for me.

I will be joining. While bans don’t usually work for me (sometimes can have the opposite effect), this time I’m going to try to see if I can build up some willpower. I was so good most of the year but really fell apart during the holiday sales - not so much handbags as lots of things that have added up. Will be looking to this thread for inspiration.

I’m joining -not bags, and only for a limited time…my closet!

I’m on a temporary clothes shopping ban, after having bought far too many clothes in the last couple of months.

I have more pieces of clothing than I’ve had in my whole life(I’ve discarded and donated a few, but far fewer than I’ve bought), but I’m a minimalist in all areas(although I love extreme luxury), and need a break having stocked up with multiples of everything I wear on a daily basis.

I’ve set a clothing budget for 2025, which isn’t affected by the ban, and my Father didn’t know what to buy me for Christmas and paid for some of the clothes I’d bought, but I have to stop.

I’ve set a time limit, but I’m convinced that I’m not going to succeed, so I’m not writing it here yet..

If I succeed then the next clothes shopping spree with my girlfriend will be all the sweeter, but I doubt my willpower.

Thank you all for your support!❤️

I’ve made it a little over a month with no handbag purchases! Yay!

Considering I bought 15 bags in 2024, this is a serious victory.

I’d like to stay banned for 6 months but even if I make 4, I’ll be proud of myself. My purpose for this ban is to

1) ENJOY and APPRECIATE the pretty bags I already own so I’m not irretrievably drawn in by the next bag that I clearly don’t need.

2) Get clear on the best types of bags for this time in my life so my purchase success rate goes back to 100%. On top of the 15 bags I’ve happily kept, I also bought 6 bags that were immediate mistakes that I need to sell. :crybaby:

3) Refresh my neglected clothing wardrobe. Between WFH and some health issues, I haven’t updated my clothing since 2020.

I’m writing these reasons down and reflecting on them often because without a solid rationale for my ban, I know I’ll be more likely to fail which is not an option.

Congrats, with all of the sales going on that took some serious discipline!

I did buy a small Fendi pouch but only after watching the price for weeks until it hit a level I could justify. So that's new for me. I'm also finding bags I'd like to buy but having a much stronger internal monologue about whether or not they really are a good fit for me. So that's all to the good.

You can do it!❤️

I'm on Ban Island with you !
I got 5 bags this year, of course not the cheapest.
2025 will be a ban year concerning bags (only allowed : a Gucci bamboo top handle in case I cross a great bargain).
My superficial budget will hopefully go towards a VCA Lucky animal brooch.
2024 was already a bag ban year (Hum I quite failed), for I wanted to improve my clothing and jewelry which I quite managed concerning the clothing.

A new thread for 2025 to support bag loving without buying would be great. While I purchased fewer bags in 2024 than previous years, I definitely want to focus on using the ones I have. I do think that one major strategy is to focus on other interests which keep us happy through learning new things. I do love living vicariously through TPF and I think I've gotten to a place where it doesn't trigger FOMO (looking at you, Hermes threads). But every once in a while one still can't resist (case in point, cutest Loewe × Suna Fujita collab)!

Hi, I'm Pimpie, a stationery-and-old-book addict - may I join you in 2025, folks?

Today is the last New Moon of the year, and I've decluttered, discarded, donated and done away with hundreds of things, also clothing, appliances, old movies and, yes -sigh- books. My purse armoire is also very full and I need to watch the impulse, reward-thyself acquisition of a few items, because I really, really, really have more than enough.

My motto will therefore be, as the Federation President said in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country", "Let us redefine progress as NOT doing something just because it can be done" (i.e., not indulging even though I have the money and the opportunity).

Welcome! And a thousand points for the Star Trek reference! :borg:

Does the ban only concern handbags? I squeezed in one more purchase before year end, a pair of preloved Chanel magenta tweed combat boots...

I've stopped searching the majority of the sites I was checking daily so it's a start! And due to my ongoing reimbursement issue wth FP I've cancelled my account there, which will be a big help.

That’s an excellent motto ! I guess the way to manage is to not create the opportunities, so hard on the Internet...
