Hi everyone! I think I need to join ban island for a little while…
Last month I made a large purchase: Cartier WH Clash earrings. The earrings are not the problem per se, it was a very thoughtful purchase and even if it is was quite pricey I saved for it and could afford it. But it made me think more widely about my shopping habits.

The problem is that I sometimes (often?) need the little boost of a “small” purchase when things are getting tough at work or at home… I tend to buy “little things” quite often (vintage clothes mostly) that I don’t really need, just to make me feel good (or sometimes a little less bad!). And small purchase + small purchase + small purchase = waste of money that could be used elsewhere.

I also really like “looking for the next thing” and I think I should enjoy what I have more and not be so eager to get the next item on my list… Is it the same for some of you? If you participate in this thread I think you know what I mean 😅

Well, good luck everyone for the month to come, and I hope reading this thread will encourage me being more thoughtful about my shopping habits.

Have a nice first day of February!

My motto will therefore be, as the Federation President said in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country", "Let us redefine progress as NOT doing something just because it can be done" (i.e., not indulging even though I have the money and the opportunity).
I love this quote…adding to my inspiring quote page. Thanks for sharing :)

How are we doing? It's been very quiet here, not sure if that's a good thing or not.

I bought a small MZ Wallace crossbody for walks, but I'm considering a Chanel Yacht tote...:panic:

Same as you, only made a small bag purchase. Lonchamp pouch with a conversion kit and a leather strap in order to carry my phone when I leave my office but stays in the building. My main impulse buy area stays preloved clothes… too hard to stay away from this instant gratification…

Saw a black Chanel yacht tote once in a second hand shop and loved the fact that the logo was quite discreet.
