I love this image of sweet little Sunshine Mama with her secret monster eyes ...

I’ll post this in ‘Handbags you don’t get’ and ‘Just because it’s designer doesn’t mean it’s good!’

Ladies, my brief adventure on TPF (my first on social media!) has been great fun! I came to TPF looking for handbag care advice, and quite unexpectedly (yes, I admit I’ve been living in an analogue world ... ) found a social network of lively and positive ladies from all over the world, debating social phenomena, joking, sharing experience, insight and support, in some quite profound ways, though most importantly, of course, concerning that very significant part of our lives ... handbags.

I’m deleting my account shortly (if that’s possible — otherwise I’ll just stop posting and reading) because my efforts to share my experience as a buyer and seller, and hopefully offer a bit of help, on the Vestiaire Collective experiences thread seem suddenly to have drawn a little bit of unpleasant negative almost-trolling (a couple of people have missed the fact that the thread is VC experiences, not just VC complaints — they seem to think VC has planted me [emoji849] — Ive got to say, they haven’t done a very good job if they planted me there; I’ve spent a lot of time rolling my eyes about them and hoping to help people maintain a realistic view and sort out problems).

Well, I can do without that. I’ve not been well for a while (nothing too serious) so I have had time on my hands to read and post, and it has been super.

It’s been lovely sharing with you, and I have GREATLY enjoyed all your lovely and sometimes wicked wit! It has brightened many days recently. I wish you all well!
I hope you'll change your mind and stay because we'll miss you. Just avoid that thread. You can also set your account to ignore the posts of certain members so you won't have to see them. There is a lot of drama on certain threads, and certain posters like to instigate it. It happens to most of us even when we think we aren't posting anything controversial. Also, if you feel any posts have crossed the line into personal attacks or don't follow purse forum guidelines, you can report them and possibly get them removed.

What a fun thread! Hope I'm not too late to the party!

Surprised to see a lot of people don't "get" Chanel quilted bags. I totally understand how it looks granny-like but I suppose it's been so ingrained in me that it's a valuable classic. The Boy bag, however, doesn't appeal to me at all and reminds me of gladiators for some odd reason.

Other bags I don't get:
Issey Miyake Bao Bao bags. They obviously look funny, but whenever I travel to Japan, I always see the women carrying these around.
The Diorama bags remind me of toys, or lego. The lock also looks odd and cheap, imo.
The Givenchy Antigona also doesn't appeal to me. It looks so bulky, heavy, and stiff. If I want a structured bag, I would go for a Celine box.
One bag I thought I'd want to save up for is the Lady Dior. Many moons ago, my mom gave me a Nine West bag in the same exact shape and I used it to death. I figured I could level up with the new Dior, but all the elements of it are just not working for me! The hardware is so round, the handles are so plump and also round, and the quilting looks dated.

Not sure how it is in other countries, but where I live, LV is definitely-- no question about it-- the most popular luxury brand. Not sure if the oversaturation is the reason why I dislike the monogram print, but I just do. Although in mini bags that come in odd shapes, like the trunk clutch, petit boite, and that cube one, they can be cute!

I always say never say never. I really dislike the LV monogram print, especially in the ubiquitous brown. Yet, just recently I found out about the new LV duffle and I love it, monogram and everything. https://us.louisvuitton.com/eng-us/products/duffle-bag-nvprod1080041v
I'm hoping that by the time it is sold out I'll come to my senses.

Oh my, the painted effect on that monogram is so fun! I think it's just the "classic" styles that I dislike the monogram in, because in real life I see them so often on much older women (no offence to anyone out there!).

And I agree, I've ended up falling in love with bags that I used to dislike. But, I suppose the perk of having to save up for months to afford a designer bag is that I really have time to think about if I love a bag enough!

I don’t get the Balenciaga Moto bags. The corner wear is dreadful and I hate the way the handles go dark. If I’m spending that much money I don’t want my bag to look worn and dirty so quickly.
I have been looking into this brand's bags and I made the same observations. Plus they don't hold their value in the resale market. It's seems way too pricey for something that wears so quickly.

This thread! Thanks for letting us vent.
- Balenciaga City. Ugly imo
- I can't stand how the Celine luggage looks. I think the handles are too close together and weird looking!
- Goyard totes. Ugly pattern and apparently not super sturdy according to some on tPF (I didn't even know about the brand Goyard until I came to tPF)
- Dionysus bags
- Hermes Evelyne .. Not a fan of the holes
- The Gucci mono print in general (brown/khaki looking one) I think it looks ugly. Which is weird bc I love LV lol
- MK bags. I buy his shoes but the bags are soo ubiquitous.. like Coach was when I was in HS/college
- I agree about the crazy process of getting a B or K. If I ever am able to afford that, I am definitely saving up and buying preloved for a color & leather I actually want!

All this fanny pack talk. Lol reminds me of a former coworker, middle aged male, community college instructor, who wore one. Constantly. Nice enough guy. And we would chat regularly and it was all I could do not to stare at it, like it was a deformity or something. I wanted to tell him, Just pick up and go to Boca already! Lol good times. And trust me, it's not like I think I'm all that. I tend to carry my vintage Coach British Tan pieces with anything and any color , regardless.
YES!! Wow when I was in like, middle and high school you wouldn't be caught dead in a fanny pack! Maybe this is my age showing but to me it the uncoolest thing you could wear...

I usually don't like monogram prints but this monogram is like the true old style print and I was lucky enough to get a catogram bandeau in this type of monogram old style print. I love the unevenness of the old style stamp printed look.
