Bags you don't get

I don't like canvas . I'm not talking about coated canvas like LV . I'm talking about regular canvas. It looks really bad when it's older and dirty. I do understand that others love it though. I think each person should buy what they love and what makes them happy. For me personally, canvas does not make me happy. I prefer leather so I guess I could say that I don't get the whole canvas thing.

Also I agree with the bucket bag sentiment. I find them very unattractive with the scrunchy top. (And yes, I know the history of the Noe as a champagne carrier of sorts lol!)

Regarding the Chanel GST. I completely agree with you and others on how dated (and dare I say a little tacky) the big C's look. But I think(?) the bag was designed at a time when people WANTED logos - and the bigger the better. I tried to find an original issue date but couldn't. Does someone else know? I'm also guessing the dated styling was one reason Chanel discontinued the tote. IMHO it would have been nice to see it get a modern redesign. But, I think it was smart for them to at minimum cease production.

Agree! When I was in middle and high school it was all about the big splashy logos.. Abercrombie, AE, Hollister, Aero, colorful Coach, knockoff Mono Multicolore bags, knockoff CC totes... now apparently kids like more understated stuff lol. (Except maybe they wear VS "Love Pink" stuff, which I find very comfy!)
I find it pretty fascinating how fashion changes so much in 10 or 15 years

As much as I don't like micro bags, I don't get the xxxxxl trend either...

My arms and shoulders hurt by merely looking at these
OMG those don't even look real. I can't!

I’m from Asia and bamboo is soooo NOT exotic to me. I have them in my front yard. It’s a weed and needs to be kept under control. I have them maintained regularly (I keep them there for privacy between me and my neighbor).

Bamboo items are always in our “souvenir” section at the airport. Bamboo fans, bags, etc... So when I see it on a Gucci bag I always found it so bizarre. Haha.

That is interesting. I live in the US and bamboo is seen as being "exotic" lol

I love the Fendi monsters and bag charms but I hate that the charms are real fur. [emoji20] So I refuse to buy them.
Wow, I'm a little surprised to hear they are real fur.
The fluffy bag charms and pom poms.. I don't get those. I am a sucker for the Rodeo Horse though! I like the thought of something LV or an animal hanging off my bag. I guess bc I'm a cat mom and I love animals. I even bought a lookalike rodeo horse on Amazon. It's yellow and pink - fun pop of color :)
I was browsing the Hermes forum and the horse is soo ubiquitous, I thought nothing of it til I came to this thread lol! I guess it is a bit childish but to each their own

Agree with everything here esp points 1 and 6 on LV and Chanel. Really cannot see for the life of me what's so nice about those bags.

However while I can't understand why those bags are so popular, I can appreciate the sentiments behind collecting bags they love and the joy it brings to people. So in that we are all the same :flowers:

It’s funny how we all have such different tastes. You mention not getting Chanel and LV, and they are my absolute favorites. Not because they are so popular, but it’s just an intangible and visceral reaction to most styles within these brands...I swoon and drool when looking. I think that’s why buffets are so popular, we all like different things. For me, I don’t get the attraction to MK—everyone around here carries it, or Coach—-no interest in their bags for the most part. But these 2 brands are SO popular with so many people. Each to their own☺️

I don’t get the Balenciaga Moto bags. The corner wear is dreadful and I hate the way the handles go dark. If I’m spending that much money I don’t want my bag to look worn and dirty so quickly.
I bought a part time new in 2009 or 10 carried it normally for about a month. The wear and fading in the leather was the worst I've seen on any bag I've owned. Never bought another Bal bag. The Moto jackets on the other hand I still love.
