What are your thoughts on the new plastic/transparent/PVC trend? I'm confused by it because everyone else seems to like it. What am I missing? Or is it as weird as I think it is?

I liked it when seeing it on YouTube and Instagram, but then I saw it in real life today in the city I live, and it looked so ridiculous and unsafe to have all her belongings on display. I guess it’s one of those things that won’t work for me IRL!

The huge, wider strap makes it MORE comfortable. It's much nicer on the shoulder than a thinner strap which digs into your shoulder and traps if you have too much stuff in a crossbody bag.

I purchased my first and probably last H Evelyne. If I didn’t break a limb and needed a comfy crossbody, I probably wouldn’t have purchased it. And, I never looked at backpacks before, but now I have to wear one while on crutches!
I agree about the wide strap. It is extremely comfortable and the bag is easy to get in and out of. It is very functional for me.

I’m not on the clear bag bandwagon. I also don’t get expensive leather bags designed to look like garbage bags and bed comforter packaging. I am really annoyed with this ugly-on-purpose trend either and it’s happening to shoes. Like “dad shoes”, those big sneakers that grandpa wears for walking around. Balenciaga makes shoes like that. What times we are living in!

I only like it when it's done right(no personal items showing. .like pen, receipts, comb, etc). Also it has to be of good quality...there are so many cheap looking types out there. ..no cheap looking plastic. And it has to add to the whole aesthetic of the person carrying it.

I don’t get the Birkin. So Hermes sets out to design the perfect cabin overnighter with the main brief being that it closes securily. And we end up with a back destroying heavy tote that no one ever ever closes while they assiduously make sure they hide its most distinctive design feature, that weirdly shaped flap. Okay, it happens, no one, not even Hermes, is perfect, but how does a design failure become the most desirable bag ever?! :confused1::P
It's not a bag I find desirable I'm confused by people who carry Birkin bags like this. It's always the majority of people that I see who hold them like this. This pic is not the best example but I hope you understand what I mean.

I think some of these bags are quite unique but it’s not a trend I will be partaking in.

I realize that some folks are required by their job to have a clear bag, while others may need them to attend a sporting event, so having fashionable options is nice. On the other hand, it would make me uncomfortable to bring a four figure bag to a job/sporting event that requires a “see through” bag. And as messy as my bags can get on the inside (the random junk one collects throughout the week), I don’t want to display that mess either.

However, for those who are organized, have the disposable income and want to wear the latest trends, I say go for it!!!!

This thread was so much fun to read!

As for the Birkin, the part that I don‘t get is how anyone would pay 10k for a bag and then put one of those ugly ass Rodeo horse charms on it. It looks like something your child makes you buy at a school Christmas bazaar View attachment 4052777

I agree with you about the charm! However, the horse is growing on me in certain colors! Still, i would make my own. I have some pieces of leather i can use to make it. Maybe ill make it sooner than later and do a reveal!:biggrin::biggrin:

Did you know these charms are super expensive too? $500+. I don't think they're ugly, but I don't get the appeal either. I've never been a fan of bag charms myself. But the price is [emoji33]

I wonder if maybe these women don't want to show the type of bag they're carrying...? It's a total guess on my end, but I think Parisian women do this a lot with their bags, especially the Chanel flaps.
