Bags you don't get

I think Chanel cranks out extreme designs cuz they can, and for notoriety and free publicity, but their bread and butter is with grandma style bags.
I don't own any Chanel bags but I think their main styles have come a long way in the general fashion consciousness from grandma style bags, if they ever were there. Somebody more Chanel savvy can probably chime in on this. To me they're pretty much ageless classics now, like the CC flap and the Reissue.

I love the reissue! Im dreaming of owning a navy chevron reissue with ruthenium hardware once my pocketbook and Chanel's stock align perfectly. I also like some other non classic flaps as well. But the classic flap is too grandma for ME I guess. I just can't explain why i think that. :confused1:

not quite that i DON'T GET it, but i seriously struggle to understand the hype about H Evelyne
to me that ugly canvas strap looks so wrong, it's too wide, NON-leather on a full leather bag, and it's not a mid-level range bag, it's one of the highest ends bags - Hermes, why couldn't they do a proper leather strap??? :confused1:
how can that huge strap be comfortable to wear xbody??

The huge, wider strap makes it MORE comfortable. It's much nicer on the shoulder than a thinner strap which digs into your shoulder and traps if you have too much stuff in a crossbody bag.

I feel similar about other kinds of bags, too. I think for me it has to do with who I've first seen wearing certain bags and it can be hard to shake that image. It's an age thing as well, I think.

But I too am dreaming of a Reissue! :girlsigh::girlsigh::girlsigh:

From Hermes, I don't get ANY of their bags, EXCEPT the Kelly bag. I know from many youtube videos this expensive contraption is very hard to get in and out of...BUT i still love its silhouette! As a matter of fact, I've loved it ever since I was a child! Too bad I don't have one!

I think the blue goyard bags would look great with, say, nice jeans and a white turtleneck. Something coordinated and plain, where the bag could be the pow. But wearing it with anything that competes with it - well, the effect becomes “circus”.

But I suspect those that buy goyard primarily buy it because it isn’t the neverful. :P

I can’t even begin to consider buying this bag... the price, for what you get, is insane (to me at least). But I’m not going to lie, I  over the white canvas. It’s so pretty:girlsigh:

This really puts me on the far edge of most bag enthusiasts, but I'd never give a Birkin a second look if it weren't for all the hype. To me, a bag should enhance one's appearance, make one look prettier, and that bag doesn't do it.
I do like the Kelly a lot and I’ve seen Birkins that I’ve admire too. But I gotta agree. If the bags were by Michael Kors or another contemporary brand, I think they would be largely ignored - especially given the fussy lock on the Kelly and the heaviness of the Birkin.
If you should ever happen to wear any of your gorgeous bags over and over, please remember to alert me as to which window I should wait by! :graucho:

I actually like the classic look of the Birkins and Kellys. And I can see how wearing one of them could make you feel like an Amazon going in to any boutique daring any snotty oi! shop girl/boy to take their misconceived ideas of customer service out on you  Unfortunately Hermès seem to have quite a bit of attitude themselves.
Awwww! thanks! But, I do have to rotate. I’ll get tired of a bag pretty quickly.

And on the Kelly and Birkin making us Teflon shopping Amazon’s. LOL! Is it so hard for SA’s in every store to just treat EVERYONE nicely and graciously? Shouldn’t that be the inflexible standard?

and...um...shouldn’t that be the standard for all people when interacting with other humans? Just sayin’...
This particular colour combination and the blue/black/white one are spectacular. I don't like the bigger Bazar models but the smaller ones- and the slg- get both my   from me. I think Gvasalia did great on these.

You’re right. I hadn’t seen the smaller versions. They just look like cute stripey bags. Not bizarre like the larger ones. :oh:
