Bags you don't get

Any bag with too much branding (as defined by me; I know most feel differently). This includes:

1) Any monogram fabric/print (including LV or Gucci mono)
2) Large logos on hardware or bags (GG logo that reminds me of Cover Girl, giant DIOR or Chanel)

The more understated, the better. I don’t mind LV Damier Ebene or Azur canvas for totes (I have a NF in each) or Empreinte SLGs, but that’s as branded as I get.

This takes a lot of bags off the list for me. I’m considering a Saint Laurent black Sac de Jour as an office bag and would also love a metallic Diorama as an evening bag. I don’t mind the bag being recognizable; I just find logos off-putting.

For me with the Neverfull (or other wildly popular bags) it’s not about the fact that everyone has it or that it’s a competition. It’s that when “everyone” has anything, I get eye fatigue. I get kind of bored with it.

I don’t want to see the same bag over and over and if I do, I don’t want it on me or near me. LOL! But again it’s not about others. It’s about me liking variety. This is why I rotate bags in my own collection. If I wear the same bag over and over, eventually I’ll want to throw it out a window. However, if I wear a bag now and again (no more than say 6ish times in a month), I will love it for years.

Also, while definitely not a proper building block of self, whatever we wear, say or do, is an expression of our personal brands and by extension - our identities. And, that is a fun thing.

(Specifically for me, the Neverfull doesn’t have internal organization so it’s not a great option functionally. But that is a little off topic for these posts.)

Oooh! Bamboo socks! I want to try!
 LOL! I think the baby changing pads look better.

@SomethingGoodCanWork , thanks for the insight on the E. Still not buying it. LOL!
@ksuromax - I completely agree. The canvas strap does NOT work for me. (but then I don’t like any canvas on bags.) This alone keeps the E from being a high end bag in my mind.

And, +10,000 on how the hoop jumping kills the desirability of the brand for me. I really like the Kelly but, the brand is a bit of a turn off so I’ve held off. I waffle - I could see loving the bag but I’m not sure if I can get over how the brand is positioned. We’ll see. Never say never but, it’s just hard to stomach. If I go into a Dior, they treat me like I’m their first, best and only customer. So to have to earn the favor of another brand...
If you should ever happen to wear any of your gorgeous bags over and over, please remember to alert me as to which window I should wait by! :graucho:

I actually like the classic look of the Birkins and Kellys. And I can see how wearing one of them could make you feel like an Amazon going in to any boutique daring any snotty oi! shop girl/boy to take their misconceived ideas of customer service out on you  Unfortunately Hermès seem to have quite a bit of attitude themselves.

Agreed!

I have another to add to the list: bags that you can buy from Chinatown but which cost $$$ at the boutique. Case in point is Balenciaga's stripey bag. (Sorry, I don't know the actual model of the bag). I don't get this!

Yikes! Im actually lusting after the mini version in pink. I think it's the colors. Like this:

This particular colour combination and the blue/black/white one are spectacular. I don't like the bigger Bazar models but the smaller ones- and the slg- get both my   from me. I think Gvasalia did great on these.

It's been mentioned before but plastic bags that are $$$ are ridiculous. They were trendy 10- 20 yrs ago with Hermes,, Chanel and LV making them and now it seems they are back in style. Some people get upset for paying 5 cents for a plastic grocery bag but it's fine to spend $$$$ for one if it's "fashun"!

I remembered when Chanel did this. It's almost like Costco will be stocking Chanel that year.

I think Chanel cranks out extreme designs cuz they can, and for notoriety and free publicity, but their bread and butter is with grandma style bags.
