Wanted to add to this list:- Large handheld bags. Small handheld bags are ok, though, but only if they're very tiny.
- Bags that supposedly are "both" handheld and shoulder bags. They're actually handheld bags; stop advertising them as something they're not! A good example I can think of is the Gerard Darel 24 Heures bag, which I bought at a steal 2 months ago. Contrary to what they advertise, it is not a shoulder bag. The handles are too short and slips off my shoulder when the bag is full or if I'm in a rush. Not to mention the strap drop is not that great. BTW, I'm also petite; I'm a size 2 and just under 5'5", so I'm not very tall. I had a Coach bag that was similar and I sold it; I am debating on selling this one, too, but I might just give it to my mom.
This also goes for bags that have an add-on strap like the Givenchy Antigona. I think the strap makes the bag look awkward because it doesn't look like it was originally designed for it.
- Minaudieres. I would love to own one, but I'm not that posh/fancy.I need something that can hold my keys or at least my cellphone!
- Bucket bags. Argh. I've had several of these and sold all of them. I hate dealing with drawstrings, plus the "piling" of my stuff made it hard to access things at the very bottom.
- Large messenger bags
- Backpacks
- Fabric (non-coated canvas)/patent leather bags. Nylon is the exception.
- Large, all-leather bags. Too heavy.
- handheld clutches that don't have a strap option. I sold my YSL Belle Du Jour bag recently because I couldn't get over not being able to go hands-free at all.
- flat handbags. The silhouette is nice, but I don't like it when my stuff makes the bag bulge out. Looks sloppy.
