Bag Insults - Ever Had One?

A sister of mine told me one funny story that I want to share. She's a flight attendant for Delta, and she's obsessed with shoes. One day she had an argument with a lady in first class. The lady was being rude to my sister, and my sister wanted to take her off the plane at that point. She called the attention of the pilot (who happened to be my sister's husband), and upon looking at the lady, my BIL smiled. He simply replied, "Lady, if you don't stop complaining, I will tell everybody here that you are wearing last season's shoes!" She immediately just sat down, and kept silent the rest of the flight.

It's funny how easily women get distracted! :P
:D

Thanks for sharing this great story - what a lovely sense of humour your BIL has, he must be a lot of fun to work with too!

not really an insult but this man i know (who acts like he's all in the know about fashion) asked me about the hardware on my Balenciaga SGH sorbet city, in a very sarcastic and *****y manner, "why does your pink bag have big thimbles on it?"

i just had to laugh!

My husband: "Does this ever end? " (pertaining to my closet full of bags)

My mother: "Don't you ever save?" (duh? I already put her on an allotment. she doesn't seem to complain about the fact that I'm giving her money every month)

My sister: " I will never pay that much for a bag...but wait, can I borrow it sometime?" (very annoying. my reply has always been, "...you make more than I do. Why don't you buy one yourself?)

oh wow, like hearing people around me...

BF's sisters talk behind my back about my handbag passion but they never fail to borrow my babies. the other day we were walking and talking about our work and I was complaining how I still don't drive because I don't have a car blah blah and BF's little niece (she's 9) says: "can I ask you a question?" -I nod; she continues: "why don't you buy a car instead of all those bags and shoes?"
(I have 6 designer bags and 6 pairs of designer shoes )
I know she's too little to come up with something like that on her own, especially because I NEVER talk about my bags in front of kids.

asking how much something is is rude IMO; unless you're really close good friends, then fine. I also can't believe sometimes how people will ask you how much you make, it's like, WTF? How rude! Talking about money is kind of trashy, IMO.

When I buy a large bag, my mom always said it's "too old" for me. SIGH. Does she expect me to carry small bags for the rest of my life? I don't get it. She always asks me how much I spent on it, too. So rude.

Last year I was so HAPPY because I had bought a beautiful large vintage Chanel tote! And when my older brother saw the Chanel, he said it looked like something a very old lady would wear and that the gold chains made it look cheap!!!!

I've had numerous people comment on how my Goyard St Louis tote looks and feels like plastic. Often times, they'll compare it to LV canvas and how LV canvas feels much nicer. It doesn't really bother me because I know Goyard is very rare and unknown around where I live, so I chalk their attitude and behavior up to them just not being educated about bags. One friend (who truly thinks LV is the best in the entire world) even criticized the way the handles on my Goyard are connected to the bag (implied that it's cheaply done and will fall apart).

I haven't been insulted (at least to my face), thankfully! I can't believe people can be so rude! I do make an effort to not carry my high-end bags to work, though. I brought an LV Epi leather Noe to work once when I first started working there (we keep all our bags in the back, so I thought it would be durable, easily wiped down if spilled on, etc) thinking it was not flashy but one of my coworkers told me that another girl I work with was like "OMG, did you see Amanda's Louis" and it wasn't clear to me how she said it, but it made me self-conscious enough to not bring it anymore :(

i was rifling through my wallet today for a receipt and my boss (female) told me that it was disgusting looking and that the stitching looked grotty like sweat.
my everyday wallet is a lady dior wallet which looks like the new croisiere wallet minus the chain in white patent. obviously its used and not brand new with a few scuffs here and there but i always think its best to keep quiet if you don't have anything nice to say.

In the past, i did not buy branded bags, i only bought guess, oilily and kipling brand bag. My friend said i am poor because my bags are cheap and not branded and not leather! To me, they are not trash cheap bag, they are just good bag i like, ok! 100 u$ is not cheap bag for me here! Well ok, she calls me `poor` and my bags are trash or cheap, because her bag is louis vuiton, coach, kate spade and so on. Expensive bags! Well now i learn my lesson, so i start to buy leather bag from fossil, furla, also candy bag of furla i like. More than 100 u$ here! I hope she knows and sees my bags now, dont call me poor again please. I love my bags although not branded and not more than 100 u$, it hurts my feeling when she insults me like that.

I was sitting with a group of lady friends and had my speedy LV limited edition with the Dantelle next to me. Put of the blue, this girl says I have no idea how u got this bag...I will never buy something like that...I like the classics...I was taken by totally surprise and since I am not a rude person I kept my mouth shut...but it was on the tip of my tounge to say well I am not into cheap, easily faked uo bags but since all the other ladies were nice and decent , I didnt want to offend them but it was disgusting! She was green witj envy yet had the guts to say that!

LOL! I have a Speedy MM and I totally agree with you. Maybe my kids will get some use out of it one day. IT'S TOO COMMON NOW!!! So annoying.

She's probably just jealous, or she's too honest. If she doesn't like it, she should go rant to somebody else about it. Not bring you down about something you carefully picked and spent a lot of money on. I carefully pick my bags, and I invest a lot of time searching and debating about the next one. You made the right choice for you, not for her!

Lying does get you nowhere though..I was being nice when my SIL got some purses and they were truly heinous. She asked if I wanted to borrow...She asks all the time..NOOO!! :nogood:
