My grandfather calls my speedy my "mail box" purse and gets a good giggle from it every time he says it.

ALSO I get a lot of comments about whether or not I bought items from women I work with. (For the most part, my bf does buy everything for me BUT I really wish I didn't get those remarks.)

"Are those Burberry? What did your boyfriend buy them for you?"
or more recently I had sunglasses and my purse and the first thing a co-worker asked was "I bet the bf bought them for you, didn't he?"

Why can't I buy anything for myself?

here's what i usually get (i'm a teacher) "oohhh you have ANOTHER new bag?" or this one happened last week.. "do you just take your paycheck and BUY whatever you want with it"????? here's what i want to say 1. none of your business and 2. none of your business! seriously, there are things that i do w/o because i love bags so i get them instead..i would rather scrimp or get something else less expensive to buy my bags...UGH...why do people think it's okay to comment on MY bags...would i say to them "gee, how much do you pay for your hair color?" or "wow, how could you afford a new kitchen?"""""

I was visiting SIL with a Fendi Zucca Mamma and we were talking about handbags. SIL turns to the Fendi and asks "is that fake?" It wasn't so much the question but the crazy-ass cackling laugh she made while she was asking that insulted me.

Wow...some people should practice minding their own business and keep their mouths shut!!!

I have never experienced anything like you ladies have been subjected to.

People are amazing - they think they are soooo justified in their remarks, yet fail to see how RUDE they are.

Who cares what anyone spent on anything, bet all of you were not RUDE when you bought the bag(s)...yet the same can't be said for these people.

RUDE just seems t be the norm nowdays...

Why would you even care if she thought that your handbag were a cliche or not? I guess I'm at the age where I could care less what other people think. Then again, I've always cared less what other people thought. I purchase for my own enjoyment and pleasure. And it's no one's hard earned money making the purchases but my own.

:D lol that sounds like such a granddad thing to say.

Sometimes I ask my boyfriend what he thinks of purses I want to buy, he thought the Mulberry "Alexa" was hideous (but that was less an insult, and more his opinion).

I remember when I bought a black bag, he said, "If you are paying that much for a bag, don't you want to get a more noticeable colour?".

I wouldn't say I have been insulted before, nothing that I think was meant as an insult. A co-worker said to me once "Not another black bag!"

i don't get outright rude comments, but there are a few who will say i won't pay so much for a bag and my favourite "is it fake". how i answer depends on my mood. now that i have cut out people from my life who never have nice things to say; i no longer get any insults, bag-wise and in general!

I usually say one of these two in response to bag insults:

"Wow, I can't believe you said that. I'm so embarrassed for you."

or

"You're so...kind to worry about my finances. If I ever need a loan, you'll be the first person I call."

I haven't had anything said about my bags yet, but my friend had a bad experience with her mom!

She had just bought herself a Longchamp, and when she went home, her mom was like, "Ohh, where'd you get that?" So she told her Nordstrom, and her mom was asked, "So what did you have to buy to get it?" Implying that she thought it was one of those free totes you get when you spend money at a store, i.e. Victoria's Secret!! :(

Rainrowan: You need to have a quick tongue with people like that. You should have looked dead at her and asked," Are your boobs fake?".

heh. :graucho:

Just earlier this week, I bought a (faux) lynx fur long vest and when I modeled it for dh, he goes: "don't take it the wrong way but the first thought that comes to mind is Wilma Flintstone". I keep thinking about The Flintstones now whenever I look at the vest LOL!!!!
