It's a great deal. Membership is $60 a year, but you get an immediate $60 credit you can use right away. So it's like membership is free!!!!! Plus you get 20% off all rentals and you can get on a wait list for popular bags.

if you like something enough to borrow it (unless its something you never plan on using again and only need it for one occaision) why not just get your own so that you can enjoy it and not worry about anyone else

I sold a few bags to BBOS, and stupidly took store credit for a couple of them as opposed to the cash. I bought and returned three bags before getting one in halfway decent condition, and that came with auth cards. None of the bags come with dust bags or auth cards unless specifically stated, and 95% of the DO NOT.

I even "rented" a Prada once, as it stated the "Steal It" price was only $740, and I had enough credit that I could buy the bag without putting up much money, but it turned out that price was wrong, and just a typo on their web site. Further, this bag was in shabby condition: if I wanted to rent a bag, it better look brand new! This one looked very used!

They have had a lot of turnover there, and their prices are ridiclulous. You are better off buying a bag and then returning it if you only need it for one event, or :graucho: borrowing from a friend.

I wasn't being serious :p, about either option. (Plus, who would ever lend out a nice handbag, much less who would ever ask someone???)

My point being that using BBOS is just as ridiculous of an option. That is just my opinion, of course.

I've rented and purchased bags from them off and on for years (more off than anything). One of the main reasons I borrowed a bag last time was to test drive something I was interested in possibly purchasing. I'm glad I did that because I discovered it was way too small for my liking. It saved me from shelling out about $300.

I'm truly glad someone has had a good experience with them, I just haven't. Trying out a bag before investing in one permanently is a great idea, especially since most handbags are indeed an investment.

I believe they have had a change of management there, so perhaps that is why I have not been satisfied with the quality of the merchandise. Perhaps I just chose bags by happenstance that were not their best choices. Either way, I am not knocking the idea of the company or anyone who uses them. I just happen to have not been happy with them personally.

I wanted to sell 3 bags to BBOS and they gave me the most ridiculous lowball offers. I would rather keep the bags or take my chances on evil bay.

The bags I sold I had gotten on sale, otherwise I would NEVER have taken their offers. One Prada bag I sent them they I decided not to sell them, and they sent it back in a box with no padding whatsoever, just tossed it in a box loose, and the box itself was falling apart! I was livid. This was a $2200 ombre patent leather bag. It came back to me damaged, and they did nothing to try and remedy it.

Wow I have never done the rental thing... But WOW are the pricey..

I would save the money and buy a few stunning bags that belong to just me..

That's horrible! Their staff seems like novices to me. I sent them 5 large, crystal clear pictures of my LV bag (which showed it's authenticity) and they still needed more pictures. An LV expert would know right away that my bag was real.

Maybe so, and I'm not at all questioning the authenticity of your bag, but they are probably right to be extremely cautious about LV, given the huge number of fakes out there. I think it's hard to be too careful about LV.

After reading all of the posts regarding BBOS, I wanted to share my story with all of you fashionistas so you could know up front what kind of company this is.

First off, I live in the Midwest, in an area where couture and designer labels are non-existent. From my desire to test-drive a bag I desperately want to buy, I decided to try out BBOS so that I could "borrow" the bag for a short amount of time, get a "steal" quote, and buy it for a reasonable amount provided the bag measured up to their insisted standards. I did not even get that far.

I decided to play their game and "borrow" a bag, which is required before they will quote you a selling price. I went through the process to rent a Prada bag I have been eyeing, provided all information requested, and I even took the time to read their ENTIRE Terms and Conditions page, so I would know what I was getting into. The T&C indicated I might be asked for a deposit. I understood and was fine with that. After reading all of this, I went through with my rental, secured the bag with a credit card (which was charged 30 seconds later for the full amount of the rental, $95 for one week!) and received a confirmation email stating I should expect the bag on February 8th, five business days later.

The next day, I received an email from Avelle stating the bag I rented had a required credit check, and their attempt to pull my credit had been unsuccessful using the information I provided. I was to call their Customer Service number and provide them with my Social Security number.

Apparently Avelle doesn't realize that's illegal. You can't pull a copy of an individual's credit report without express consent. The "Terms and Conditions" page says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about credit inquiries needed to rent bags. The reason they couldn't find me with my address information (thankfully!) is because I recently moved.

It will be a cold day in hell when I give a company full access to my identity to rent a purse (which I already paid for!). After researching with the BBB, this company is NOT BBB accredited, though they have received 21 complaints filed against them in the last 36 months.

Extremely shady business practices. Now I have to work to get a refund. Do business with this company at your own peril.
