The second L stands for the factory code, not a country code. There can be several factory codes for different factories in the same country. D stood for one factory in the US. L stood for another factory in the US.

The first L doesn't actually stand for December. It stands for November because Coach skipped the letter I since it looked too much like a one.

Be careful which site you use to get your information. Many of those sites have misleading or just plain wrong information.
Oh wow that's so interesting! Do you have a site or resources that you'd recommend? Also, do you know which factory the 'L' corresponds to?

If you want ACCURATE information about creeds and serial numbers, read the Salearea Guides. The link in Pinned at the top of any index page here in the Coach Shopping forum. Like Whateve and my Signature under every one of my posts says, most online "guides" aren't worth the electrons they're posted with. DON'T depend on any of them except what's recommended here and actually researched and updated by a tPF member. Namely ME.

Read the first 13 posts for background but don't bother with the links in those first 13, most of them don't work any more. Posts 14 thru the end is where the important information is.

Hyacinth replied in the above quoted post with a place you can look for information. On top of that, we have several threads on here where you can ask questions and talk about vintage Coach, such as these threads: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/answers-to-authenticity-questions.94198/ (pay more attention to more recent posts at the end of the thread than the beginning) and https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/vintage-coach-photos-chat.857690/

I don't think any of us know exactly which US plant corresponded to which location, except that A is probably New York and B might be Miami. I believe that later on most were offshore in places like Puerto Rico and Guam.

Thank you so much! You all are so helpful :)

Dear Authenticators,

I was wondering if you could authenticate this bag for me.

Purchased at a local boutique in the Philippines.
Measurements are 9 x 10 x 2 inches.

Thank you so much for your help!

I can't read the creed at all but I'm not comfortable with some of the details.

If you can get a much clearer picture of the creed, that might help.
Dear BeenBurned,

Sorry about that. Now that I'm looking at it I realize it is even hard to read in person. Tried to take the photo again, pls. See below.

Thank you!
I believe that bag is fake. I'm sorry.

If you bought it, I'd recommend returning for a refund.

Be very careful buying highly faked items in the Philippines.

One of my pet peeves is improper sentence and language structure or misspelled words. I’m not a school teacher but I had one who made sure we learned how to use correct tenses and grammar. Never would have I have written something like “I seen”!
OMG I didn't want to be the one to point out what a grammatical nightmare that was. It made me cringe. "I seen..." clearly not the inside of a book.

This one is questionable to me.

Item: Ergo Mini Zip 9020
Listing: Ebay
Seller: seeitwinit
Comments: J4H code, neat stamping. The N and the o look off. Underscore is long. Claiming 1994? I have not seen other Ergos with that date range but my knowledge of this bag is limited. I have the ad but no date confirmation. The measurements seem right for this bag but of course that's with me eye-balling. The seller failed to post measurements. Hardware is similar.

Anyone know if this bag is authentic? It's the weird almost re-stamped style code that I'm curious about. It's the first time I've seen such a messy stamp on a bag:

Style: 9948 Binocular Bag
Seller and Site: Pol3228 (seems like a newer seller) on Ebay

It looks like someone at the plant stamped the wrong month code and had to re-stamp it correctly. It wouldn't have made sense to just throw the bag in the trash. Other than the restamping there don't seem to be any problems.

The seller actually had two chances to get the name right and blew both of them. It was a Canterbury Bag in 1994 and renamed Nottingham Bag in the Spring 1995 catalog. This one is from 1994.

Oh very interesting! Cool to know that a restamp isn't necessarily odd, thank you. I have seen these bags before with the names all over the place so I'm not surprised that they got it totally wrong, ha.

Fake. Always-fake serial prefix, date code from 3 years before the style was even introduced,
